Today I was in my English class and we had an assignment that had to do with poetry because thats the section we are on. The assignment was to "translate" three different songs and put it into simpler words.(stupid I know) Well in one of these songs was a line that I had no clue what to make of it, and i am here to ask you, The Escapist Populus, what do you think "who drop the blue cop" means?

... I think you're going to have to give us more than that. Like the rest of the sentence, for example.

Song analysis? Try I Palindrome I by They Might Be Giants. That's a fun one.

What I would put as my first sentence on my paper is "Music is art and if you fail me for putting into 'simpler terms' you are failing my opinion which is mine and mine only." Then I would write and hand it in.

That's if I had to do your assignment. And you will probably get mixed answers to you question so good luck :p

After a google search turned up zero results for "who drop the blue cop," I have not idea what the song is. Regardless, it sounds like it would roughly translate to "who killed the police." Then again, that's a literal translation, not symbolic.

Easy, simply because I am fluent in Proper English, American slang English and Cockney English, I would say that translates to "Who killed the cop"

The only line before that one was "tell me whos hot and whos not." It then procceds to a different stanza and changes subject.

Important question?

I'd say it's rap slang for this:

Thats what I thought at first, litteral translation, but as you guessed that complete idiots wrote this song, They could say "I farted" and possibly mean "I am cool." I am reluctant to state the song because of copyright and stuff.
