You tried googling it? I reckon there should be a few very old ones around, not ideal for gaming though, if that's what your intending to use it for.

You could just prise the Windows key off if you really hate it that much.

I have an old Tandy keyboard that would fit that bill, except for the fact that it's PS/2 wired, instead of USB. If it had the windows key, and I had a desktop computer, I would so be using that thing -- it's built like an absolute tank. Do they even make keyboards that don't have the windows key anymore? I mean, apple does, but that substitutes one problem key for another one.

I'd be surprised if there was ever a keyboard made that had the key layout you were looking for, and had the USB port. I mean, it's pretty crazy that my Tandy keyboard has a PS/2 plug; I would expect something that old to have one of the really old keyboard connectors. USB is probably out of the question. However, those old keyboards were built to last. If you don't mind running it through a PS/2 to USB converter box, you should be able to find something that would work on Ebay.

My suggestion is look up the pawn shops in your area or check out garage sales for really, really old pcs. That's your best bet. I understand how you feel, I miss my IBM/PS2 keyboard sometimes.

*edit* might want to find a ps2 to usb adapter also.

That's surprising, actually. In my case, it's gaming that makes that key necessary. Sometimes, if you have a really buggy game that keeps crashing on you, that windows key is the only thing that can get you back into windows without doing a hard reboot. Granted, I haven't had a game lock up to that extent since switching from XP to 7, but I'd be surprised if that problem was completely gone.

Excuse the post so soon after my last one, but I wanted you to get the notification from the quote, so editing was out of the picture.

I thought this topic would be about a guy who lost his keyboard and needed help finding it.\

I am disappointed.
I thought it would be something like the computer not registering the keyboard.

OT: I'm sure it's not that big of a deal having a virtually useless button. Can't you turn it off? Or take it out?

You got something against the windows key? You don't have to use it you know... Or are you one of these "Hardcore Mac/Linux/BSD/Other" guys and anything Windows-related is an insult to you?
I think he's just sick of accidently hitting the windows key and getting thrown back to the desktop while playing a game and trying to hit the ctrl key to duck as it's often used for.

Are you sure? Isn't tabbing or ctrl+alt+delete just as effective? If not more?

Usually, but some games would lock up to the point that there was nothing but a black screen. Ctrl+alt+delete would bring back the portion of the screen where the task manager was, but alt+tab didn't really do much. Pressing the windows key would bring the task bar back, which could generally be used to get back the rest of the screen by opening other programs. It was a pretty narrow set of circumstances, but it seemed to happen with annoying frequency.

My Logitech G15 has a switch on it to turn off the windows key... I'm not sure how many keys it has, though. But check it out if you're into gaming. They're solid keyboards.

I'm sure there is a way to disable the windows key. I mean it'd be easier than finding and buying a bad keyboard just for the sake of one key. Which OS do you use?

I use a pc but a mac keyboard. It's the metal slim version. Very nice keyboard and the only apple product I own. No windows button. Fully functional (the command button does some weird stuff not related to apple)

'aight. Not sure if I have experienced that. Game flaws haven't been prevalent in my years of gaming.
