Impressions on a collection, if you'd be so kind

I have to admit, I've been thinking about posting this for a long time, but I've been too self-conscious to do it, since it seems like a masturbatory post asking people to wow over my possessions. But, nothing could be farther from the truth, and this IS the place to do it, so what the hell, I'll just do it.

I am looking for an honest opinion, from other gamers, on my collection of PS3 games. Good, bad, I am genuinely interested in what other people here think of it. What, in your opinion, should be here and isn't? What doesn't belong? What stands out as weird or peculiar? And what does it say about me, as a gamer?

Please, again I say, this is not an egotistical post, but I see how it can be misconstrued as one, hence my initial reluctance to post.

So... what are your impressions? And by the way, feel free to follow suit with your own. It'll be an interesting starting point for something bigger, perhaps.

You appear to be missing the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which is interesting considering you have Metal Gear Solid and 4.

:D

Also, no Okami HD? For shame! (In good humor, of course.)

Other than that, nicely varied and interesting collection. I wouldn't say anything stands out as 'weird', but then I believe a gamer should have as vast a palette as they can develop a taste for. I never thought I'd like a turn-based tile-based tactical strategy game, but XCOM: Enemy Unknown is fantastic. I'm terrible at stealth games, but Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite franchises of all time.

I've played the majority of my games on the PC over the last two years, but I've still got a decent PS3 collection, I think. I'm not alphabetizing mine, though.

Nier
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
Transformers War for Cybertron
Resistance: Fall of Man
Resistance 2
Resistance 3
Killzone 2
Killzone 3
Sonic The Hedgehog ('06)

Sonic Generations
Batman Arkham Asylum
Batman Arkham City
Crysis 2
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
Dragon Age: Origins

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Devil May Cry 4
God Of War 3

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
LittleBigPlanet 2
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIII-2
inFamous
inFamous 2
Dragon's Dogma

I have those 3 games for the PS2. ;)

Haven't gotten around to "upgrading them" to the HD versions yet.

Your collection is certainly interesting, but given that you have some of the same games as my wife does (Nier, FF games, Star Ocean) it seems more like her cup o' tea.

Yeah, some of them I've actually got for PC and PS3 (Mass Effect, Sonic Generations, Bioshock, the Batman games, and Dragon Age come to mind).

It would take me a long time to list out my PC collection, I imagine. But multi-console games I've got on the PC instead of the PS3 (or Xbox 360, as the case may be) include:
Dark Souls
Dishonored
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
The Walking Dead
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Metro 2033
Transformers Fall of Cybertron
The Witcher 2
Darksiders II
Portal
Portal 2

... there's probably more, but that was just a quick brainstorm.

Dunno why I still actually own Final Fantasy XIII though, since I loathe that game...

No War of The Monsters? Colour me disappointed. Should be mandatory for a couch, 4 player game night. No Unfinished Swan as well, I highly recommend it.

I am primarily a PC gamer, so my PS3 collection is rather small, may not even need a spoiler tag:

Uncharted 1 and 2, no three yet, but soon, should never have waited so long to play these gems in the first place.
Infamous, still need 2
God of War 1 and 2
God of War 3 (collector's edition)
Killzone 2
Killzone 3 (Collector's edition)
Brutal Legend (one of my all time favorite games)
Ico / Shadow of The Colossus only had SoTC on PS2, cold never afford the $300 price tag for Ico at the time. Now glady I can enjoy both great games.
Mortal Kombat (Collector's edition) I am terrible, but I love it.
War of The Monsters (Couldn't not have it, it's mandatory)
Heavy Rain (another of my favorites)
Bayonetta
Little Big Planet
Splatterhouse
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
The Darkness (another top pick)
Lollipop Chainsaw (loved this a lot more than I thought I would)
Lair (I don't get why this is hated on so much)
Dante's Inferno (great game, even bought the letter opener, lol)
I am Alive (got the PC version too, I liked the graphical improvements, and I like FPS on PC rather than on the controller)
Unfinished Swan (another favorite)
Thexder NEO (big fan of the old PC game from Sierra, think it stems from my love of Robotech and Battletech)
Mortal Kombat Arcade Collection (I am still terrible, and I still love it)
Tokyo Jungle (enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would)

The following were free after the PSN fiasco either from the month of free PSN + or given as free games:
Streets of Rage 2
Medievil
Wipeout HD
Dead Nation

Now the other side of the coin, my regrets:
Red Dead Redemption
Demon's Souls
Mortal Kombat VS DC
Journey (having a lot of trouble getting into it)

How about what I would like to see an HD remake of on PS3 as well:
Rule of Rose (So creepy)
Robotech: Battle Cry

Can you buy American McGee's Alice on PSN?

I play them! Or try to, anyway. I've got games I bought years ago yet still haven't touched them.

I think so, yeah. You can get it for free with Alice: Madness Returns, or you can buy it separately, I believe.

Very different from the typical Escapist's, yes. I think you have an excellent collection there but you should definitely give Atelier Meruru a try, assuming you liked Totori. A lot of the characters from Rorona make a reappearance as do almost all of the Totori characters. And as usual by GUST, the artwork, writing, character interaction and music are all gorgeous.

I need to get around to picking up ZoE HD myself, did it get an English release yet? If so, I might as well just grab that otherwise I'll just pick up the JP version next pay day. I won't bother listing mine since it's more or less the same as yours add The iDlOM@STER2, Atelier Ayesha, Tales of Vesperia and a few other non English release titles.

OT: I don't think I can say much about that collection. Too many games in there I haven't played. Others I have or have at least heard/seen enough. Seems normal, I suppose. But you have Blood Omen without the rest of the games? Not puzzling just somewhat atypical, I suppose: most people would be the exact opposite - not having played BO at all. I don't blame them - it's an old game. But a good one, I still like it.

I'm going to get it when the price drops, I'm cheap when it comes to games. I'm jealous of iDOM@STER 2 since I want it but I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money to import it. Also ZoE HD is English, and comes with a demo for MGR if you're interested in that.

My jaw literally was on the floor by the time I got to the end of the list, but then I remembered that I have about 176 games on Steam and that isn't the rest of the games on/for my PC or my consoles. But wow all the same. Also great dedication to alphabetising the list as well. Though no Persona games? None at all? For shame. :p

However as a PS3 owner I am shocked you do not own Heavy Rain yet. What the hell man that game... That game is wow. Something else I could recommend you if you like story based games is Catherine. I really love that game as well. Oh and the Mass Effect Trilogy if you haven't played it yet.

Awesome collection! My PS3 collection is...well it's made up of like, 4 games at the moment because I chose the 360 for some stupid reason. Your thread has kind of inspired me to make a TOTAL COLLECTION thread of some kind but I couldn't make one at the moment. Gotta catalog the collection!

Wow a list of great games, a lot of which are Japanese! Judging by a lot of the responses I've seen on this board, I was beginning to think that I was the only one who appreciates Japanese games (jokingly of course).

So... what are your impressions?
I think you really need to get Journey. I also have Flower and Flow, but I don't think they're anywhere near as good as Journey. Instead of paying for it on disc, I would just save some money and get it from PSN.

However as a PS3 owner I am shocked you do not own Heavy Rain yet.
Definitely Heavy Rain as well.

And no Ratchet and Clank? Holy crap you have to play those! That also goes for the download-only Quest for Booty, which fills in some story before the last main quest title, A Crack in Time.

And since I don't play shooters online, I purchased two copies of Saints Row 3 for PS3 and gave one to a friend. It was by far, the best online co-op I've ever enjoyed. Not deathmatch--full campaign co-op.
