i somehow managed to get a lasting scar on my right hand from the final incarnation of bowser on super mario 64.

but i was small at the time, and held the controller differently to how i do today.

very differently.
Differently as in, with a razor blade attached? How did you manage that? Colour me interested.

basically, i held it between my legs, operated (A) and (B) with my left hand, and used the control stick with the palm of my right hand.

that is where the scar is. the palm of my hand took some heavy damage from when i was swinging bowser around, and the scar is still there, although extremely faint.

i wasn't much good with most games back then.

MarioParty on N64. I would rotate the analog stick with my palm, which resulted in blisters on several occasions.

And then there's the regular game playing where my hands hurt after a long session, but I keep going anyway...
Ninja'd. Damnit, this is the obvious choice. Especially the 1 on 3 tug-of-war game or the 1-player Boo/bike mini-game.

Let's be honest, sometimes the controls in a game get to the point where we wonder what we are being punished for.

Be it the need to hold down a button for long periods of time, branding yourself with its shape, or tap a button for long periods of time, resulting in an acute case of claw hand, sometimes games seem to decide that if they are going to be beaten, they are at least going to cause us pain in return.

So, my fellow escapists, I ask you, what games have abused your hands, and in what way? My example would be from FFVIII, the boosting system would have you hold down select for long periods of time while furiously mashing square, resulting in both a rectangular imprint and hand cramp.
I remember the pain, especially if you pressed square one to many times and bam! went back to 75% power, except for during eden, where I got to 255 about 3 times over...
