ive been playing dead rising 2 and i have come to the conclusion that alot of games should use improvisation

the flaw with DR2 is the logic some combos just shouldnt happen and others thats should dont, come on why cant you combine a wheelchair with a fire extinguisher. other games such as fallout require blueprints, improvisation shouldnt be about blueprints

im not just talking about improvised weapons but also improvised attachements and ammo, eg using a wall of tree as a rest for a rifle in a modern shooter. or in a post apocolypic world using the now valueless coins as makeshift ammo

i cant see a single genre that would not benefit from improvisation (in one way or another). If implemented with 'realistic' logic and alot of freedom (you dont get the same feeling when its only a few preset options) it can really give a feeling of power against adversity and a true underdog spirit.

a few games i think it could work are the obvious survival horror (which its already implemented), GTA series, modern shooters could used improvised explosives etc

N.B: if you are a fan of improvisation (like me), check out an upcoming game called homefront

I agree in the fact that this could very well be the most awesome thing to ever come to Survival Horror games. But if you think about it, this would mean that the developer would have to look at EVERY combination in the game, ANIMATE them all, make them DO something, and make them REACT in the enviroment. Some, like the Fire-Extinguisher-Wheelchair should probably have been implemented into DR2 but it's not like games can just create a ton of content because you told it to. Nothing can really be improvised in the gaming world... yet...

improvisation is not just about combining to items like a 90s point and click puzzle [e.g use 'fire extinguisher' with 'office chair']

it could be combining 3 or 4 different items, it could be a set piece using a using a lorry full of explosives to destroy an enemy base, it can be as i mentioned some as simple as using a tree or small wall to rest a rifle etc
