I never hear this get brought up but doesn't a part of you wish there was a World of Starcraft? Honestly, I think that game would have provided a more dynamic experience because the three races have an incredibly different style of fighting. No more would we have to tolerate the same list of characters with a copy and pasted skin depending on what side they're on. Not only this, but it would brake the incredibly dated "good side" "bad side" pitfall that WoW embodies. The protoss would be a perfect for people who prefer solo play. Strong tank like characters that can take a lot of damage and deal it out equally well. The marines would be for defense specialists, ranged attack players, and stealth lovers (ghosts, seriously, how badass would it be to play as one; especially if they made available a variation of the nuke attack for high level players). And the zerg would be for players that prefer to form raiding parties and attack in mass. I've played WoW and it felt very generic. Each side played the same and had the same abilities and it was just plain boring (in my humble opinion). Starcraft just seems like a much more interesting universe with a heck of a more variety and playing styles depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the three competing factions. Am I the only one who secretly wishes that Blizzard would have created a WoS instead of WoW?

I remember a long time ago they were thinking of making a "Ghost" FPS made off of the Ghosts in Starcraft, and I thought it was going to be amazing. That was years ago and I haven't heard anything about it since, so I guess the project died out.

Look, I'll be the first to agree that WoW is happy to set the standard and therefore be very generic for a modern MMO, and I do believe it suffers for not having a major compeditor right now. However, there is no "good side" and "bad side." At first glance the humans and other members of the Alliance seem "good" and the Orcish Horde "bad," but that's mainly because the Alliance is more familiar to us. It represents civilization, technology, and each race has their own forward thinking ideals. However, there is an equally valid argument for why the Orcish horde would embody Honor, Courage, and a Personal Responsibility. Think of it as Sparta to the Alliance's Athens. There is no bad side, merely two different philosophies where one expects its people to fight, and the other fights so their people won't have to. In the end, the only bad side are the Scourge, who aren't playable.

Once again, I agree WoW is a pain, and since Tabula Rasa closed and TOR isn't going to be out for a while I'd love to see a quality WoSC, but I wanted to point out the issue with your ideology. In fact, if anything, the SC universe has more black and white good and evil sides than WC has had since it stopped being just humans vs orcs. In order to avoid having a "bad side" as you requested, all Zerg would have to be under Kerrigan, and even then, she's still pretty decidedly evil, while the Protoss and Human forces are the varying hues of philosophical ideology that can both be argued as being good.

Wouldn't it be closer to universe of starcraft as there are multiple worlds?

It would certainly make things a bit more interesting. Probably make the PvP system more fun too.

Once again, I would love to see WoSC. I'd love to play a Dark Templar, or a Marine up from scratch, I was just pointing out that it would still have a pair of arguably good sides and an evil side, and I suspect that the Zerg would be confined to NPCs except for a small shard population of outcasts who would ally themselves with one of the forces while a fourth faction would appear to keep the scales balanced, a la the forsaken and the Draeni.

What I think blizzard ought to do is keep what they have intact, and add racial classes only available to certain races, in the style of Racial Paragon classes in Dungeons and Dragons, in order to improve WoW and make the skin you chose for your character mean a thing. For instance, add a barbarian class for Orcs only, or a Rune-caster for Dwarves only. I mean, it's not that big a deal, but I think it'd make the game more interesting.

Then again, I'm a year clean, and not going back, so they're not going to impress me even if they do.

I like that idea. The problem with that idea though, is those whiny little shit who aren't satisfied with anything unless its perfect for them. You know those people that whine because "I can't beat this person, so his class is over-powered." or to use the native language, "FUKEN NOOB HAXX BLIZZ NEEDS TO NERF TEM!!!". It would be fun to watch though.

Oh, god, it'd be hilarious to watch.

That's the problem with any MMO, or online game in general. You have to pick early who you want to please, because you can't please everyone. Personally, I'd be pleased with character and plot depth at least up to the standard of LOTRO or DDO, and some emphasis on squad based combat beyond some paltry buffs that last long enough you can rush out on your own once you've received them. However, I'm not in the niche that blizzard has found pays out most, and therefore am not their target demographic, the money they took from me was just icing on the cake. Once again, that's fine, it's how the business works. Gamers like me are more likely to play single player RPGs and action games, anyway, so it's probably better that the twitching n00b pvp militia are the ones Blizzard focuses on pleasing in their MMO.
