Anyways I'm kind of bored at the moment at least RPG-wise I am getting my fix with everything else. I recently finished The Witcher and absolutely loved it yet now I found myself deeply bored with nothing to do. All I know at this point is I want an RPG where I can play as a Dwarf! Other then I am open to anything that is fun and has a great story. So can you wise Sages of the Gaming Millennial shed some knowledge on me a poor peon?

I liked the first Neverwinter Nights, and have you played Planescape: Torment yet?

Have you tried Dwarf Fortress? It lets you play as a Dwarf in a mode called "Adventurer Mode".

I just recently downloaded Dwarf Fortress but I am having a hard time with the learning curve on the Fortress Mode. I like rogue-likes but I am definitely having a hard time with this one. :p

No idea which of their titles you might have already played through, but there's always Bioware:

Planescape: Torment was already mentioned, features a cool story and lots of text.
Other classics are Baldur's Gate 1, 2 and ToB (awesome story) and Icewind Dale. The D&D system underlying might be a bit clunky but should be managable if you played Neverwinter Nights.
If you use Widescreen Mod with those games, their 2D environments manage to look nice even today.

Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 (though 2 wasn't developed by Bioware) are great Star Wars RPGs.

Jade Empire was fun as well imo, but some people didn't enjoy the asian setting and/or the real time button mash combat.

edit: You might want to check out the upcoming Dragon Age as well.

So, you liked The Witcher and want a RPG where you can play a Dwarf? (You're not asking me to hook you up with midget porn, are you? ;))

First game that comes to mind is Sacred Gold (available for cheap [http://store.steampowered.com/app/12320/] or on GameTap [http://www.gametap.com/play/gameDetails/000572050]). Similar perspective to The Witcher, deeper mechanic, and one hardcore Dwarf. Unlike the Witcher, the graphics are a bit dated and the story is neigh non-existent.

If you prefer to swap that out for a deeper story and eye-popping graphics, I recommend Drakensang [http://www.fileplanet.com/195432/190000/fileinfo/Drakensang:-The-Dark-Eye-Demo]... oops, not out Internationally yet, but soon (Jan 2009) - that link has the Demo.

Pretty much played everyone you said other then Planescape. I also absolutely loved Jade Empire especially John Cleese that was one of the most hysterical characters in an RPG ever. I will have to check out Dragon Age I am a big fan of bioware's stuff even if at times it can be clunky with its AD&D rules.

Thanks for the recommendations I will have to give them a look.

Neverwinter Nights 2 is a great game, so many races and classes to choose from, a Dwarven Bard would be hilariously entertaining.

You like dwarves, eh? Looking at your avatar, you appear to like lumberjacks as well.

Do MMO-RPGs count?

I'm having a crazy fun time playing my dwarf in Warhammer Online atm. Can't go wrong beating the crap out of goblins with a giant wrench, I says. If MMOs are at all your style, that is.

I'd recommend AD&D. Those three hours a week are some of the most memorable of my life. Stay away from 4th ed, in my opinion though. Made the game feel less like an epic poem and more like an MMO-style grind.

If you do try Planescale, I suggest downloading these mods to make a great game even better.
