Name: Matt Seras
Age: 19
Region: Violet City, Johto
Appearance: Roughly 5' 8", brown hair, green eyes.
Matt carries himself with a relaxed air while traveling or training his Pokemon, though he typically resorts to a more uptight posture when around people. However, whenever he finds himself in extremely populated areas or in nerve-wracking situations, Matt will reflexively hunch over and make himself as small as possible, in an attempt to escape others' notice.
Personality: Timid, fairly shy around new people, doesn't deal with crowds very well. If, however, Matt finds himself around people he likes/feels comfortable around, he will open up, revealing his wordy, carefree, and somewhat inane self.
Enjoys Pokemon immensely (More than he does most people), and has built strong bonds with his somewhat small team. To Matt, it doesn't seem as though he'll ever have any better friends than his personal Pokemon, and he doesn't suffer from his usual social impedance when battling other trainers.
Bio: Though Matt hails from Mahogany Town, Johto, he's spent most of his life in Violet City. Moving from the small township to the larger had a poor effect on the young boy, and he found his already underdeveloped social skills stunted.
Raised by a single mother, Matt was used to handling more responsibility than other kids his age, often taking care of cooking and cleaning while his mother worked. Surprisingly, he never complained about his busy schedule, coming home from school to immediately begin his daily chores; he simply kept quiet and did what was required of him.
Matt did, however, react quite normally when he got his first Pokemon at age 10: A Cyndaquil from Professor Elm. For a while, Matt treated Cyndaquil as though the fire-type was nothing more than an overly intelligent pet, refusing to even entertain the notion of battling for several years.
Life, as it turned out, had different plans for Matt. His mother eventually remarried, and Matt's new stepfather, a proud Pokemon trainer himself, decided that his new ward would follow in his footsteps. As such, the 13 year old boy was, "encouraged," to begin his journey. Luckily, Matt soon found that he enjoyed wandering around the woods and roads around his home, with only Pokemon and the occasional trainer for company. He found a peace in those desolate areas that had eluded him for a long time, a sense of tranquility that he began to seek day after day.
Today, Matt has fully embraced his path in life, dead set on becoming a noteworthy trainer. Though he doesn't train with any particular Gym Leader or group, he's become quite used to wandering in the wilderness, encountering all types of new Pokemon and growing a bit stronger with each new day.
Pokemon:
Spike (Cyndaquil) Lvl 28 Male
- Flame Charge
- Flame Wheel
- Defense Curl
- Quick Attack
- Sunny Day
- Smokescreen
Matt's first, and most loyal Pokemon. Spike originally belonged to Professor Elm, but was given to Matt on the boy's 10th birthday. Raised as a pet for several years, Spike soon developed a docile, relaxed nature; even after six years of training and fighting, he's still quite gentle by Pokemon standards, rarely able to unleash his true potential in even the most trying of battles.
Despite his faults, Spike is still Matt's best friend in the world, and does his best to please his trainer, just as Matt does his best to keep Spike happy.
Ventus (Pidgeotto) Lvl 29 Male
- Gust
- Twister
- Quick Attack
- Double Team
- Whirlwind
- Ariel Ace
A few weeks after beginning to train and explore, Matt finally managed to capture a Pokemon for the first time, a low level Pidgey. Though far from unique, Matt was quite jubilant about his accomplishment. Though Ventus was initially annoyed about being bound to his new trainer, he soon adjusted to his new situation, especially after realizing that he could milk Matt for food and treats.
The first, and thus far only, one of Matt's Pokemon to evolve, Ventus is also his most aloof and self-centered teammate. He typically expects some food or some kind of reward after each battle, a habit Matt is happy to indulge, regardless of the drain it puts on his wallet.
Despite his greed and detached personality, Ventus has bonded with Matt over the years; though not nearly as close to his trainer as Spike, he's still a loyal member of Matt's team.
Persephone (Ghastly) Lvl 28 Female
- Hypnosis
- Night Shade
- Payback
- Confuse Ray
- Dream Eater
- Lick
Persephone is an oddity: A Pokemon that its trainer caught entirely by accident. The whole story is one of Matt's most embarrassing memories, involving an ill-advised trip to Sprout Tower after dark, some creepy Sages, and being unable to tell the difference between a Pokeball and a flashlight.
Regardless of how she was captured, Persephone took a liking to Matt almost immediately (Meaning she discovered just how easy it was to scare him). To this day, Matt is forced to keep an eye on her whenever she's let out of her Pokeball, in an attempt to prevent any shenanigans or tomfoolery. He's rarely successful, but he tries.
To Persephone, it's all in good fun. No matter how many times she scares the living daylights out of her trainer, she's more than willing to fight whenever he calls on her, and obeys Matt without question in battle.
Ditzy (Wooper) Lvl 15 Female
-Water Gun
-Tail Whip
-Mud Sport
-Mud Shot
-Slam
The most recent member of Matt's squad, Ditzy is still getting used to her new teammates. Her rather oblivious nature (She's
very aptly named) tends to grate on Ventus' nerves, and, due to the circumstances of her capture, the Wooper harbors a somewhat instinctual fear of Persephone. Still, she's been warmly welcomed by both Matt and Spike, so thing's aren't too bad for the water type.
Despite her unintentionally goofy demenor, Ditzy can be quite clever when she focuses on something. If only she wasn't so easily distracted by shiny objects. Or things that smell nice. Or interesting sounds. Or... Well, you see where this is going. The word "unfriendly" doesn't exist in Ditzy's vocabularly; she almost always carries herself with a cheery, bubbly air.
