When was the last time you enjoyed a bout of joyful nostalgia. Soon, with summer round the corner, gaming sinks into a wholesome pit of fire and new releases dry up quicker than a woman confronted by a pedophile in dungarees. Sex jokes aside, it might as well be the dark ages as far as video gaming is concerned. But some of us, yes I'm looking at you, still want our fruitful gaming pie. But thats what I'm here for constant reader, here to perhaps plant a seed that blossoms into a wonderful idea tree. And here's the seed.
Turn back to your old consoles, just for a while, just till winter comes back. No doubt the weather will be terrible again this summer. So you'll be stuck indoors. And if that's not incentive enough. Then never fear because I've compiled a rudimentary argument.
Old games are just.....better. Without the new bells and whistles of the latest releases, old consoles could concentrate on two very, very important game play assets. Originality and the ACTUAL game play. Remember, Resident evil 4 the beauty of that game is the wonderfully changing challenge it presents the player with. God of War is the same. Although the new generation of consoles is wonderful, are any of the games as original or fun (Remember fun is Opinionated, and imo last generation was definitely more fun) as some of the classic ps2, gamecube or xbox titles.
You must of missed something. You must off, maybe you missed out on that exciting Christmas release. Perhaps you never picked up Gran Turismo 4 because you missed, or just didn't have the price. Well now you can for a fraction of the price. Go on treat yourself, enjoy something you missed.
So go on try it, fend of the summer drought of depression. And while your at it, why not share some of your old favorites?
