A better question would be, "which is the better batman adaptation, Batman Arkham City or Batman the Animated series."
Ah, well played sir. By the way I love your avatar.
Thank ye thank ye, I like yours also, Magus xlr was an awesome show, too bad they messed up its time slot.
Alas I bid my beloved Megas XLR adieu a long time ago... But I still have my VHS copy of El Dorado so there's that.

i think they are both superb in their own right. Nolan's was a realistic version of batman whereas arkham asylum is more true to the comics and its lore. it depends if you want mor fantasy in your batman or more realism

It's subjective.

Though the answer is actually Batman & Robin
I hope for the sake of everyone's sanity that was a joke.
I feel that Rocksteady's adaptation of Batman is the best take on Batman in a long time, considering we don't have to hear stuff such as this: http://youtu.be/HBsdV--kLoQ

I choose the 1966 movie
Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb.

In an alternative universe just after he made In the Line of Fire Clint Eastwood grew a moustache and made a live action film version of The Dark Knight Returns. That is the best Batman adaptation...

No poll?

Anyway, I think the answer to which is better is "Yes". No, seriously.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are great films and I enjoyed both. The characters, the setting, and just the way the movie felt were great. You could almost see it happening in real life. Of course, Heath Ledger gave one of the best performances as Joker in Batman's history. All in all, Nolan's films have been great and gritty adaptions of Batman. A work of love if anything.

Arkham Asylum and Arkham City really make you feel like Batman. You become a serious badass who can stomp on 20 guys at once. Batman goes toe to toe with Bane, Killer Croc, and Solomon Grundy and it feels natural. Nothing beats gliding over the city streets and getting the drop on goons or slowly eliminating groups of armed guards without being seen and listening to them freak out and Batman picks them off one by one. There have been so many times playing the games that all I could do was say "Are you kidding me?" They're works of love, too.

I think the main point is this. When the people making the game or movie truly care about the character and the content, it flourishes. The reason we can gush about these great works is because the guys and gals making them wanted to make the best work they could.

I'm still waiting for The Dark Knight Rises. I wonder if we can look forward to a new Rocksteady game in the not too distant future and what it'll be.

Lets be honest.

No one saw 'The Dark Knight' for Batman. Everyone went for the Joker. As good an actor as Christian Bale is, he isn't a good batman.

Arkham City has the best portrayal of Batman in my opinion. Both voice (come on Kevin motherfucking Conroy) and general aesthetics and behaviour. The stoic crazy prepared, caped crusader.

Much better than the roidhead Bale plays.
He does a decent Bruce Wayne, I think. His Batman voice is beyond grating, though. Just speak normally, man. The audience is used to suspension of disbelief in that area when it comes to that sort of thing.

But you're right, he's overshadowed by his enemy most of the time.

I don't have much criticism for either of these two adaptations, though. Arkham City's combat is sort of dull in its execution, but it is otherwise fantastic. The Dark Knight had Bale's stupid Batman voice making me cringe my way through his scenes, but was wonderful aside from that.
