So I just saw Inception, which is one of my favorite movies of the year easily, and was wondering about the ending
So, in the end Cobb seems to have made it back to reality with his kids and life back to relative normalcy. However, when he spins his totem to see if it is real he leaves it spinning to hug his children. Then in a colossal dick move the movie ends before seeing whether or not the totem ever stopped spinning (I actually really liked the ending and thought it was absolutely perfect). So I was just wondering who thinks he made it back or whether he is still stuck in limbo as his reality? And why you think so.

I thought (and the IMAX I saw it in kind of inferenced this) that the top was stuck on a crack in the table and was beginning to wobble. Or maybe my memory's just failing me. Either way, I prefer the belief that the ending was real, and the friend I saw it with agreed with me. I choose to think that Cobb should have gotten some satisfaction for all his hard work and suffering.

On the page of ambiguity, I liked how the events surrounding his and Saito's escape (or not, depending on your belief) was mysterious to allow both sides of the arguement to be correct. I can't really present evidence against the reality notion, but the evidence for it seems too strong for me to deny it.

Quick Edit: I also agree with others that it was similar to Blade Runner's ending, but this one was clearer about which sides to take and made it the final gut punch to the end of a magnificient journey. Honestly, this is my favorite movie of 2010 so far because, simply put, nothing like it will be released for a long time, maybe never. I tip my hat to Christopher Nolan.

tl;dr = Christopher Nolan is a rat bastard who loves to mindfuck people.

Not saying that he's a bad person, it's just he knows how to mess with your head just enough to make you grab your head and go "aaggggh!" (Which is what I and my four friends did after the movie ended.)

Memento especially...the ending of that movie makes you go "wait a second WHAT" and forces you to reevaluate the entire movie based on what you were just told.

EDIT: Oh, and OT: I think it's reality. Sometimes you gotta have a happy ending, especially after two and a half hours of "holyshitholyshithoylshti!""
