Came back from a midnight screening of it. Normally I don't do midnight screenings of films, especially since the painful experience of doing for Transformers 2. I decided to do it tonight, and I do not regret it. The crowd was loud at first, but once the film kicked off, no one made a peep until the end unless there was something humorous happening at the time. For a film that lasted two and a half hours, time flew by rather quickly. It was an excellent film, and I am seriously considering going again later. I most definitely recommend it.

At the same time, I'm sad, because now I'm gonna be comparing every film this year to Inception. Anyone else seen it tonight?

2 1/2 hours? Better be good; I don't want to suffer the same experience I had watching Waterworld or Jules Verne's The Mysterious Island.

But even though I've avoided this movie like the plague for fear of ruining a surprise, I am still very much looking forward to seeing it next Tuesday.

The trailer seemed promising, though I'm usually not a fan of DiCaprio in movies. I mean The Aviator, Catch me if you can and Gangs of New York were pretty good, but I did like his earlier performances. Then I discovered it was written and directed by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Insomnia, Memento) and started to get more enthusiastic, since he also directed one of my favorite movies, The Prestige.

I'm planning to see this one as soon as possible in a decent enough theater. The current IMDB rating of Inception also seems optimistic, though with 2700 votes is not reliable or stable yet.

Not a fan of numerical scoring, but this is a high 9, if not, 10. I just feel so happy with the end result. Look, I'm pretty easy when it comes to movies. I know good films from bad films, but I still enjoy the bad ones even if they have some entertainment value to them (such as a good premise, style, etc.) Inception, to me, is just plain good. I came out of the theater euphoric, since I've been anticipating this film ever since I saw the first teaser trailer. The premise is simple enough, but the execution and the way the story unfolds is very intricate. At times, Nolan is handling three or four set-pieces at once, and it doesn't feel mind-boggling. It's just...an experience.

Don't go to IMDB. The troll A-Bomb has been detonated, so there's a ton of spoilers and nonsensical topics aplenty. I've seen all of Nolan's films save "Following," but I can safely say Inception is my favorite from him so far.

My friend wants to go see it and asked if I would go with. From this I think it should be worthwhile. Thanks for the info.

How could there be something wrong with a movie written by Christopher Nolan about secret agents in a dreamworld? Tell me what could possibly be wrong with that. Even if the movie scores low (Which it probably won't), it's still probably one of the best premises of this year.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't go to their message boards often, the last time was when I wanted to know the soundtrack of the trailer of a movie I had not yet seen, and it was full of movie vs movie threads and spoilers.

So this is your favorite of Nolan's work, promising indeed.

I went and saw it as well. Hands down one of the best movies I've seen. Probably gonna take Best Motion Picture of the Year.

Congratulations!

OT, well, I haven't heard anything about this film. Maybe it's because I'm British and it hasn't/will not be released here.

The trailer got a very "Huh" response from most people I know who have seen it. Though I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for it next time I head to the cinema. Sort of careful with movies these years, mostly generic slop getting shoveled out the front door of Hollywood.

Just out of curiosity, what trailer music where you looking for? I do the same thing, and sometimes I get lucky.

What kind of movie is it? I only watched a few minutes of the trailer...
Basically, the film plays out like a reverse heist flick, but with the added bonus of taking place within the framework of dreams. The heart of the film is Leo's character and the personal demons that torment him. Then add some really good action scenes, excellent direction, and the best Hans Zimmer score since Gladiator. That's Inception in a nutshell. That mini-synopsis is a disservice to the film, but to say more wousld be risking spoling some of the more interesting aspects of the film.

BTW, just saw it a second time. The crowd, just like the midnight screening, was completely into the film. Lots o' applause at the end.

Completely agree.

This was a phenomenal movie and one of my all time favorites (I know it's early, but the movie was that good) but I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone.

It would go over a lot of people's heads.

I'm seriously looking forward to this, I've been very careful to not spoil anything.

Though I am having fun reading the Metacritic user reviews. There's plenty of 10s and 9s, but then there's people like this, trying to be cool.

Folks, this the first movie I've ever walked out of half-way through. If you like a confusing plot, typical Hollywood visions of urban destruction, complete with large-calibre handguns killing people randomly and disjointed rambling dialogue by cut-out characters... you'll love this movie.
