I think you'll enjoy them. The first three, episodes 1-3 are okay although I feel the last, original three are much better. I do highly recommend watching the unedited VHS versions (or laserdisc if you're lucky), because they slightly altered several important scenes. Either way they're fun to watch though.Marter said:

I also don't have either facebook or twitter and I have no clue how Dexter or bold Hal from Malcolm in the Middle could ever become popular shows. And most current pop songs I only ever get to hear once they're used in a pony PMV or a parody.

Homestuck, BBC Sherlock (or any Sherlock, really) and Dr. Who.
I see a lot of really nice fanworks for Homestuck but could NOT get into it. The story is confusing and incredibly long and just... too much effort. Plus the fanbase is awful.
I couldn't get into Sherlock because of Benedict Cumberpatch. People actually like that guy, let alone find him attractive? Maybe it's my gaydom, but that man looks like an enormous douche.
Dr. Who... again, too confusing, too many different reincarnations. Also stayed away because of the fandom. What a poisonous bunch (from what I've experienced).
As for games, I have little experience with "the classics". I've never played a single Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Metal Gear Solid, or Final Fantasy Game.

Ponies and Adventure time drew large followings for a bunch of reasons, but largest among them is nostalgia and that they have fantasy settings that draw heavily on D&D. If you came up to me a year ago and told me I'd be a fan of MLP:FiM I would have laughed in your face, but it happened. Like anything else, I like to withhold judgement of something before I experience it for myself. I started noticing that MLP was everywhere on the internet and while playing GW2 I ran a dungeon with a guild called "The Greater Brony Alliance" and they started telling me about the show, so I finally decided to watch the first episode. It was pretty meh then OMG is that a manticore?!?! A D&D monster in a kids show? The manticore wasn't the only thing. There is a cockatrice, hydra, cerberus dog, and dragons. So I started watching more and more and was hooked. The show is pretty good. Its characters aren't just caricatures of "the mean one", "the cute one", "the shy one", "the leader" and all their crazy friends. I've always been a fan of animation and cartoons and the aesthetic of the show is very colorful and bright (same with adventure time). The creator of the show previously worked on cartoons from my childhood like Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary friends so that could be a reason it attracted the first of the bronys on 4chan. Ponies also tends to sneak in memes, pop culture references, and other easter egg type stuff in the show which is always fun no matter what medium its in, as long as its not in excess.BloatedGuppy said:
