Hey everyone, I might be a little late to the game on this one, but was wondering if anyone from the Escapist had used kickstarter.com before to fund any personal game development? If you aren't familiar with the website, it basically lets you propose a project for free to the world, and get small amounts of funding which adds up quickly to your full budget. I was just thinking earlier today that since there are so many of us avid readers of the Escapist, we could probably band behind someone from our awesome little community here and get something cool done. I figure that the "collective us" here on this website know more about what makes video games great than most. I wish I knew how to design a game, but I don't, so if anyone else from here ever wanted to try and get something done, I hope they bring it up on the forums so we can get behind it. (And message me personally so I don't miss the post)
P.S. I would be remiss to not mention my friend Mike who showed me this cool site in the first place. He is working on a film right now that's using kickstarter for the budget. He asked me to edit the script, and I noticed that one of the characters is a huge video game nerd who's obsessed with Yahtzee on The Escapist (which is awesome exposure for here, and made me think of posting something about it here in the first place.) If you want to check out that project, or just see how this site works to get cool people funding, then check it out: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/857283161/concessions-a-comedy-about-serving-popcorn-and-the
