According to this site http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=57573
Sheldon Turner is going to create a movie adaption of the game inFamous.

To be honest I'm not sure what to think of this. I've never played inFamous because I don't own a PS3 (sad for me?) but as I'm sure we all know game to movie adaptions don't often work, but can this? What do you think?

Hollywood, kindly stop milking our games for your own personal profit.
kthxbai.

I suppose it "Could" work, but Games to Movie adaptations usually end badly.
Except for Asteroids, that one is going to be Reallllyyyyy goooood*

Personally, I think a mini-series could work much better. They can use the comic book style to great effect in that.

I'm not suprised but they better change the story because it sucked but I do doubt it will release because most game movies never do.

It could potentially be good, potentially. InFamous was enough like a comic book movie to translate in a meaningful way to the big screen, provided it's not Uwe Boll at the helm.

Only if they let me write it.

Although I'm not getting my hopes up, they didn't let DecoyDoctorpus make the Watchmen game.

Ross Kemp should play Cole McGrath though. That'd be great.

One thing I see a problem with this is the two different morality choices you have to choose in inFamous. Unless they do something completely different, like a backstory or something, they'd have to choose to either make Cole really good or really evil depending on if they're using Cole as the character or whatever.

Could work if it was like the cutscenes, comic book style I give it a chance anyway.

Oh bloody hell!

"What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc," Turner said. "It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is."
It is NOT the future of gaming, it is in fact the distant PAST of gaming! inFAMOUS is just beating the dead horse of moral choice systems so badly that they don't even bother to add a middle ground or actual purpose of the choice system. This guy is obviously not even a casual gamer. Why is he the one making this movie when he doesn't even understand what the fuck it's about?!

i don't think this is happening. Halo even died (i have a feeling all the IP was scrapped and leftover cgi was repurposed for district 9), games that would make obviously good movies NEVER get made into movies (i'm looking at you, half-life... and maybe deus-ex)

Precisely why knowing the source material is key to making a good movie adaptation of something, better yet, ANYTHING.

True words stabnex, true words indeed.

I'm a bit confused, who is Sheldon Turner and why are people horrified he's in charge?

Seriously, I love the game, but the difference between the two choices was between Red lightning and Blue lightning...and if you were smart you picked red lightning. The moral choice thing was so tacked on that it made me blush.
