For those who: A) Care, and B) Have seen the inFamous 2 trailer, what do you think about the new look Cole?

(those that have not seen it, but still care: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uAMnsqqI-0 )

I mean I understand that it is the game developers perogative to change the look, and nature of the character as they want. But surely to do this to such an extent in what I hope to be a story-driven sequel, is a little... counter-productive?

I have read that the reason behind this is that players did not associate enough with the old look Cole, although this new iteration appears (from the trailer at least) to be a rather generic Nate Drake ripoff.

So what do you think to the new look? Will it affect/reaffirm your decision to not purchase the game?

To be fair, the old look cole was a rather generic Nate Hale ripoff.

This leads me to believe the theory that all the major PS3 exclusives star the same person.

I like his look for the most part, his eyebrows kinda bug me.

I'm not too sure about his voice though, I enjoyed the original Cole's chainsaw-attacking-trashcan-sounding voice.

I'll still buy the game, but it pisses me off that they changed how he looks so much.

I really liked Cole as he was before. He wasn't a perfect character, he was very flawed; and any character playing within a moral choice system has to be plausibly flawed. As the OP mentions him, I can't see Nathan Drake (although he fits perfectly for the Uncharted games IMO) running around killing innocents with lightning.

I think the look of the old Cole was great, and wasn't annoyed by his voice. Everyone sounds different right? So its a shame in my eyes that they have just dumped what I saw as a good thing.

It probably won't stop me from buying the game, it just might not feel like a proper sequel.

I like the original look better. This is like when movies have a sequel, but the star is obviously a different person, and everyone is just supposed to pretend it's the same one. It ruins movies, and it'll likely ruin the immersion of this game for me.

I'd be able to relate to him if he had hair pre-blast, but i'm not doing much relation to someone with electrical(and now ice?) powers
I was watching the commentaries from Drake's fortune and they said they wanted us to be able to relate to a normal guy thrown into extraordinary circumstances, but when the circumstances are so extreme i'd rather run around being a badass
So yeah, i want old cole :(

It's not that I liked Cole's look in the first game, it's just that this is so different. He doesn't even look close to the same. He went from a Nathan Hale rip off to a Nathan Drake rip off.

I would assume they'd have to change his look a bit so he would slowly morph away from looking like Kessler... because he turned out to be Kessler except he tried to turn him away... so I guess his look would change but still. This isn't the Cole I know and love.

Well thats the thing, if they do somehow (however awfully they did it) did try to intergrate this into the story, then it might make it an easier pill to swallow. I just think its gonna be one of those situations where we all sit there politely and dont say anything, but silently hate new cole.

Hell, they could even pull some Doctor Who style regeneration style stuff out of the bag... I would actually like that, opens the door to a fair few story options as well, not to mention concievable given some of the things we know he will be able to do.
Travel through time, etc.
