Yea kinda not really. I have been sitting here for 2 hours wracking my brain on what place in the world I wish to write about. I have been tasked by the almighty professor to write a paper on somewhere in the world that human rights are consistantly being violated.

I for the life of my cant think of anything interesting. Sure there is Africa and if I get no help it is what I am going to write my paper on. Just gimme something, anything. Hell what even makes up human rights. Does it work depending on what country your in or is there a universal agreeance that all humans have a set of rights..

Whatever throw your suggestion into the giant bin and I will randomly pick one good day.

Write about how slavery still exists. Slavery pretty much allows every human right to be violated, and it would be interesting.

The destruction of Buddhist Monasteries in Tibet? The tension between the Uighurs and Han Chinese in Xinjiang? The Genocide in Darfur?

America.

[small]see what I did there?[/small]
I think I have been trying to hard to come up with a way I could perhaps throw America into the situation. Perhaps the illegal immigrant thing..

Sri Lanka? Chinas Uighur region? South sudan? Kurdistan? Belfast?

the list is endless.
Of course the list is endless but what fun is it to state what is expected. But yes thank you a lot I have been rather fried the past few days as I have been working on a persuasive essay/speech and this kinda snuck up on me.

Turn the tables. England, where everyone claims they have human rights in situations where legally they do not.
My favorite thing to do. Why not argue that everyone is stripped of basic human rights especially in a poorer poverty areas. They dont even have enough money to eat or to live and if we live in a society that would allow people to say we have human rights then why are their children running around the streets of a cold city without food that most people would just turn their head and ignore the problem.

AH Escapist you brought back my inspiration!

Guantanamo Bay. The Americans, and us Brits for that matter, have commited just as many human rights abuses and war crimes and atrocities as the people we claim to be freeing Middle Eastern countries from. If you write about the USA, by the way, make sure to mention 'Extraordinary Rendition' in your report. This is basically a scheme where foreigners who are linked to the US or the UK end up being kidnapped in other countries where the US and UK legally have no jurisdiction, then with the aid of local police or military forces, transporting the kidnapped people to other countries where torture is legal. Then these people are tortured for information on terrorism, extremism and other sensitive information. The vast majority of people detained by this scheme are innocent anyway, but it still happens, and it's usually the CIA with backing and possibly support from MI5 and MI6 in the UK. It's also the subject of a film starring Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhall, called 'Rendition'. Ironically I saw it on a plane back to the UK from the States, and I personally thought it was an excellent film.

At a risk of sounding like a cold-hearted bastard, I don't think their human rights are actually violated... More like they're not met, but last time I've checked, no organization is tasked with providing them under any penalty (OK, the UN agencies, the governments, charity organizations, they're all expected to provide, but they're not forced...) - so I guess if you write about that your teacher might say it's not violation of human rights and so you get an F.

Sorry for being a spoilsport.

Hey, how about Russia? It doesn't often feature in any news as a human rights-violating country, and yet just yesterday there was quite a lot of ruckus about the police there routinely beating citizens up, robbing them, even murdering them sometimes. Might get points for being very much on time.

Aww I thought you where writing fiction, that way I could've said "Write a story about a magic flying penis named "Wiggly" who fights crime!"
But as far as human rights... there was that whole holocaust thing, you could write about that.

Aye I had no real intention of writing about that but every journey needs a start and I have been sitting here forever in a bit of a writers block so I got something at least haha.

I am still not 100% on what I am planning on writing but at least I have renewed spirits.

Ah excellent subject however I am not completely sure prisoners are necessarily considered for human rights.. I live in America so I have gotten a rather abrubt crash course on gitmo when the torture thing was going on. However yes it is a very good subject and one I hadnt thought about.

Edit: Ah you have brought to mind tranquility bay. Basically the same as guantanamo bay but you pay to send your kids to a detention facility in Jamaica. They can get away with it cause it was not in the United States. However it was shut down I do believe not to long ago so I am not sure if this is a possibility grr.
