Injustice: Gods Among Us Unveils Batgirl

Jebus, it really does look like the leaked DLC list was real... (for those that don't know, the rumoured list is Lobo, Batgirl, Poison Ivy and Scorpion).

Poison Ivy? I thought it was General Zod?

Yep, Zod, not Ivy, and that sucks arse. I mean the Scorpion part (although Batgirl is pretty uninspired too, especially considering the large number of Batman-related characters in the game already), it just feels completely out of place in a game like Injustice. MK is a long running, well established franchise that jumped the "out of universe characters" shark a long time ago. Injustice didn't need that yet, especially considering:
a) Huge majority of gamers don't want to see it, not even MK fans
b) The DC universe has such a ridiculously large roster, to take a character out of a different game is just a waste of a character slot

And I don't think of Superman as being broken so much as being a challenge for writers. "We have this guy that's pretty much a God... How the hell do we make him interesting?"

Well since WB owns both DC and possibly the rights to The Matrix, you get the rebels to scorch the sky permanently blocking out the sun weakening Superman.... just a thought.

But yes... the problem is that what you are describing as a challenge is broken in my mind. It usually requires either a time based trap (although he can reverse time in the movies by turning the planet backwards wtf??? ) or it needs something equally distorted to our world to provide a challenge. I guess my biggest problem with him is I find him unrelatable.

And then they make him dumb enough to get lured into a trap and the villains don't finish the job (like Superman Returns). I mean Lex could have just kept stabbing him and beating him and slit his throat so he would die.

We need more Kryptonians, but Zod? Come on!! He can easily be a skin. The game is a sausage-fest as it is, it can use some more chicks!
So many good choices: Cheetah, Circe, Power Girl, Supergirl, Banshee, Artemis (Aleka?), Huntress, Zatanna, Black Canary, Starling, Poison Ivy, so on and so on.

10? I count only 7? Batman, Batgirl, Catwoman, Nightwing, Harley, Joker, Bane.

I thought he was a Green Lantern character... I'm not very familiar with the Bat characters since I'm not a fan of him.

The fixation on Batman in this game is rather obvious, Batgirl announcement didn't surprise me at all. He has more portraits than any others, he has 2 achievements/trophies dedicated to him, he has more battles than any others (9 compared to 4), blah blah blah...

I think he's unrelatable if you just look at his character on a surface level. That said, if you delve a bit deeper he has elements that are easy to empathize with.

For instance, while he has all this immense power it also separates him in a tremendous and fundamental way from the people he lives among. No matter how hard he tries he will never really be able to fit in with humans. His abilities create a constant barrier that, even with his closest loved ones, can never fully be breached.

Compare that to your social outcast or nerd who doesn't fit in because they're really smart, really good at one thing that doesn't fit social norms, or just really like Star Wars.

It's the same as how most people probably can't relate to Bruce Wayne's experience of being a billionaire vigilante with murdered parents, but find personal value in his endless quest for justice on a personal and greater level.

The lack of Martian Manhunter is really sad, he's one of the inner circle of the Justice League and it is far more believable to have him going toe to toe with Superman than... Batgirl or Catwoman. Joker I can understand as the fellow is still a genius, and Bane is known for using all sorts strange and wacky things. But come on, Batgirl? Her special power is NOT recovering from being made a paraplegic.

They should've done the huntress instead similar moves just less batman characters that way. I thought Dr. Fate and Gorilla Grodd would be awesome, mostly cuz I imagine their moves would be sick.

Meh. We already have Batman, Nightwing, Catwoman, Deathstroke, Luthor and Green Arrow for tech/ninja/human characters. "Gods Among Us" needs some more gods, not just folk with a budget. Plus if Ivy is an upcoming character that's too many characters from the bat-verse, he already has a successful series of games. Does every DC product have to become completely bat-centric? It'd be nice to see the inclusion of some characters from the Justice League Dark side of things. If Joker can be in it why not Constantine?

Constantine is in the Justice League now? When did Vertigo become canon to the DCU?

The list i heard was Lobo, Bat girl, Martian man hunter and Scorpion. But if it is true, why scorpion? The game is just DC not DC VS MK it makes little to no sense why he would even be included.
