Ok so after reading and watching all the stuff on this site about the Mass Effect ending I have a somewhat crazy idea about what happened.

They ran out of disk space.

From what I understand the game already tracked many variables from the other two games and since Bioware had to code for the outcomes of those choices they ran out of room for an larger ending. So what this really is is a massive PR fuck-up by Bioware by just not coming out and stating "We ran out of room on the disk and we think this DLC option is the best solution for an on time launch and keeping the prices down for everyone."

So is anyone know how much data is actually on the Game disk? If so what is the percentage used?

I think this would make more sense if you replaced "disk space" with "development time". If they ran out of disk space, they'd just ship 3 cd's. That's what they did in LA Noire, and they use 2 disks in ME2 and ME3. I highly doubt that was the problem, and if it was, this was a horrible solution.

I agree, if anything, it was development time. They did discuss having a scene were Shepard was indoctrinated but it turned out to be too difficult in their time limit.

Yeah, the lack of development time would provide some leeway to the next possible cause, shitty writing. Just doesn't make sense that the majority of the game was, overall, pretty damn good, yet the ending just screwed up royally. Development time may explain that, but it doesn't seem completely logical

Yeah, and even if it was that EA was putting the squeeze on them, they're just gonna stick to their guns and go down with the ship.

The has been rumours (I'm not sure if it was verified or anything) that Casey Hudson and another writer completely took the reins and didn't even get peer review (from the other writers) on the ending.

I heard about that. I hope it isn't true, and I'm not sure how it could be verified. The guy on Penny Arcade posted that on the forums, then said he didn't want the post linked to him. Given what the post said, I doubt it's a fake, as it knew too much behind the scenes. But I can't say it's legitimate just yet. Regardless, it is most likely not one cause, but multiple.

Okay guys, lets just draw a line here and stop with the whole ME3 ending sucked bullshit. If it sucked then it FUCKING SUCKED.End of story. If you go in there with hopes higher than a smokin rasta, then you gonna fall fuckin flat onto your face.FRIGGIN' FACEPLANT i say.I feel sorry for all yas who spend half a decade waiting for a great story to finally end, only to get disappointed. But,you know, you could take it like a man and say''Yes! i finally beat ME3,but geez that ending sucked.Meh,moving on''
But nooooooo, some guy even prepared charges against bioware/EA because the ending was a 3 coloured clusterfuck and false advertisment.
