After watching the video from movie bob on pc gaming being dead, i cant say i have changed my perception of pc gaming at all. I prefer consoles when doing local multiplayer with friends and good pickup and play titles, but reserve my gaming pc for when i go online. Steam just seems alot more mature then xbox live, i have been called a noob or fag much less then on live. Anyway, here is an interesting article on the whole "dead" thing.

Being slightly more serious, I'd have to say high-definition is dead. Nobody cares about being able to look at a television screen and see so much detail that you can tell the genetic coding of the actors. So, at long last, we might actually see some improvement in the content of the screen instead of being distracted by details.

I'd argue against that article is quite incorrect. Innovation is creative use of the old new thing as well as the creation of the next new thing, so if anything is dead, really, that means there are less people around to innovate with it. If PC gaming is dead, we are truly screwed for good new PC games. Even the indie devs will abandon us, eventually.

But I don't think much of anything ever dies. There will always be someone willing to cling to/revive it and most things will eventually be cool again, more than once.

I can cite precedent, if asked.

That's just it. It's the standard now, it's everywhere, we don't need to talk about it anymore and don't need to acknowledge its existance. Therefore, it's dead.

I suppose by the same argument that breathing is dead, but there are lots of folks who make a fuss when they can't do it anymore...
