Insider: Infinity Ward Not Dead

Despite reports to the contrary, Infinity Ward has plenty of life left in it, according to insider sources.

Over the weekend it was reported that insiders were claiming that Infinity Ward "dead and would continue to crumble" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100060-Insider-Infinity-Ward-Dead-and-Will-Continue-to-Crumble], but now it appears that that isn't necessarily the view of everyone at the company.

"First off, yes, it is a shitty situation, but there are two kinds of people left: ones that are sticking it out for the money, and others who want to make something work," said an anonymous insider.

"We are not dead, we definitely lost original team members, but not all of the talent. When you talk about the people who left, they are the best in the business, but equally everyone at Infinity Ward deserves that same credential."

"We are here for the long haul of keeping the Modern Warfare name alive. We just had this discussion in our Monday meeting - 'We still have the talent that will get us to where we need to go, and now is the time to find our new leaders'," the mystery person added.

With two conflicting reports, both apparently from insiders, the only way we're going to find out who was right is by waiting and watching what happens. Infinity Ward is certainly larger than those who have left the company, but their departure may just be the tip of the iceberg.

Well, of coruse insiders want people to think all is good and well inside the IW office, dont want to start a panic.

Guess it is just wait and see

Infinity Ward IS both alive and dead. In name, it is alive: Activision can just hire new staff (and presumably talented new staff, at that) to make the games in the 'classic' IW style. In reputation, however, it is dead. Infinity Ward really put itself into its games (to the extent that it LITERALLY put itself into its games - Private Zampella was an amusing sight first time around) and now those people aren't there to oversee future projects, therefore any forthcoming output will be intrinsically different.

Infinity Ward died the moment they decided to release MW2 without dedicated server support, LAN, modding, mapping, etc.

Zampella and the rest being fired or leaving are just the worms abandoning the corpse.

Schrodinger's Ward!

But yeah, know who is really affected by this whole situation? The little guys. The big talents can afford to leave their job and they will find something elsewhere, the entry level programmer or artist, that's another story.

I knew Infinity Ward was gonna take a hit but with a franchise that popular they could sell literal wheel barrows full of shit and still break sales records.

Maybe a new outlook and boss will make everyone happy this time. I still don't see how MW2 was so horrible, it may not have been as good as the first but that should be expected at this point from every form of media.

The fact that he said there are people there for the money

There not really the people you want around because most likely there sticking it out to ensure they get there royaltys and then theyll leave anyways

And while there may be other staying there it could be that they may not have been on the best terms with west an zampella

Theres also the chance that there thinking more along the lines of stepping into the void to take leadership of IW to increase there future's

Doesnt mean that anything good will come out of IW again

IW is on life support, its very close to being dead. We just got to wait for the next CoD game. (Which is going to suck hard)

Annoying all 17 PC fanboys there are does not a dead studio make.

Anyway, yes, although IW may live on in name, it'd be hard to say it'll be the same, much like the current situtation at 2015. At the same time however, will Respawn ever reach the same heights IW and 2015 did? Petroglyph promised lots after Westwood was destroyed, but have they actually delivered anything substantial?

I doubt their dead but I can imagine you have the cynics and the hopefuls. They are no doubt not going to produce anything at the level they once were producing but I can imagine just like he said they are in it for the money.

I have information from yet another insider from Ifinity Ward who says that the company has just hired a new executive sandwich boy. Obviously things are happening at IW, delicious and interesting things.
