How determined are you to get rid of your insomnia?

If you're dedicated, DO NOT go to bed at your normal time. Wait until one or two in the morning to go to bed.

This will hopefully set back your biological clock.

Besides that, I don't have any other advice besides having a wank.
I go to bed at around 3-4 am every morning, because i just cant fall asleep

Alright. I would see a doctor about this, then.

Listen to Music that takes alot of energy out of you...Hardstyle-Hardcore does this to me..listing to that for about an hour before bed makes me tired enough to fall asleep :)

So ive had about 58 hours of sleep in 24 days.

Does anyone have any ideas that
1. Does not involve medicine
2. Does not involve self-inflicted physical harm.
3. Does not involve anyone-else inflicted physical harm.

Please and thank you. (Oh and yes, ive tried masturbation)

And for discussions sake, whats the longest youve gone without sleep or having very little sleep.
Wait, since when was hurting yourself considered a cure for insomnia? Have I missed something?

Exercise. Start some sport or gym or whatever, because it's all-round good for you and it'll tire you out. I used to get up and run around when I couldn't sleep. Thank god I live in a neighbourhood where it's safe to do so.

But there's only so much masturbation to be done.
This man. He is clearly delusional.

OT: Try reading a Twilight book. There are some side affects: nightmares, ascension of the testes..etc..etc..but you will fall asleep.
I tried reading that...I didnt sleep a wink. But i was up all night throwing up and regretting my life. And after a while, I ended up pouring glitter all over my self the girls would be attracted to me....
I see, this is clearly an advanced strain then. Have you tried consuming a big meal? Warm milk? Warm shower or a bath? A Glenn Beck audio book? Praying to the sandman?
Why does everything gotta be warm? But sure why not ill try those.
Do you really want me to send Glenn Beck some of my money? Really? It might make him want to branch off into his own libertarian pro-christian sleep aid campaign.
Say what you will about Glenn Beck but the man does have a soothing voice. If it all does go wrong and he starts his own "sleeper cell" (geddit?..sleeper cell?..hyck hyck) it will be epic lulz, especially on the Daily Show/Colbert Report.

As for the warm part, well heat is known to loosen and relax muscles. This is why you pee when you dip your hand into a bowl of warm water.

Get drunk and spank it.

Either one by itself tend to work well but when combined!!!

You can toss eating a large meal into the mix as well for the triple whammy.

try watching any episode of the frieza saga of Dragonball Z
all the 27 minute gaps between dialogue as characters stare each other out or power up is perfect for sending a weary gentleman to sleep

Just do a lot of physical activity. Go to a gym, get laid. Just work out as hard as you can until all of your limbs ache. Nothing gets me to sleep quicker than a day at the gym.

Read a book. Works for me everytime
To expand on this: I find it best to try and read a semi-interesting book. If the book is too interesting, you'll keep turning pages until 3AM. If the book is too boring, you won't be able to concentrate on it long enough to make your eyes tired.

I'm gonna go against the drinking, if only because the sleep you get after booze tends to be unsatisfactory.

Find the most boring book that still has relatively straightforward language, and read.

My other suggestion is, if you have a laptop, open it to Wikipedia and pick a topic only vaguely interesting enough to keep you reading but not enough to keep you awake. (Personal examples: the Westermarck effect, Politics of Belarus, Demographics of Atheism)

Masturbate.

Always helps me anyway.
Definitely that.

Honestly though, it depends on why you're having trouble falling asleep. Stress, not feeling well, no air-conditioning, etc.

I usually have no trouble falling asleep, but very occasionally stress will keep me up, and if it's too hot I'll never fall asleep.

My personal cure for insomnia is being really tired.

But kindof like other people said, if I sit around all day not doing anything, I'll find it really hard to go to bed. If I exercise, socialise, work and other things in a day, I find it pretty easy to fall asleep.

There are other things like don't go to bed if you are not tired, so in your mind you associate being in bed with tiredness. If you stay awake in bed for hours, in your mind you associate being in bed with not being able to sleep.

I've never been as sleep deprived as you are, but when I go stretches without being able to get to sleep I find getting into a ritual helps. I'd suggest waiting until the point where you're finally about to drift off (so don't even try to sleep until then) and then do something you can repeat daily without becoming tedious.

My example is anime. Spent a week or so of less then 2 hours of sleep per night, although I did get a few hours on occasion during the day. Eventually tracked down a sequel anime to one I'd already seen and watched an episode when I'd reached the point where I was struggling to stay focussed. Still didn't manage to sleep much, but it was a start. Did this another few days in a row, and I guess my body got into the habit, because things started to sync back up.

Watch a really boring movie (I.E.: Whiteout, Alexander, A.I.), just make sure that it isn't a movie that is "so horrible, it's good" movie like Trolls 2 and Dragon Wars.

Bonus points: Watch those boring movies while trying to "choke the chicken". You will be so worn out, you'll pass out.
