+1 for the Joe Esposito reference.
I'd give you a cookie for getting it, but that would undo all that good treadmill work.

Here is a leaf of lettuce for your troubles...

Christ, that lettuce leaf looks like a foetus. Enjoy the baby lettuce.

You do realize that lettuce really isn't all that healthy, right? :p

I'll take a bag of lemons though! :D

If you haven't slept properly try not eating for 16 hours during the night (since im assuming your awake during day and night)
then eat a big ass meal in the morning-food is another internal clock mechanism in your body just like night/day.
Your body ill think its breakfast and force you to stay awake the whole day-then you'll crash later in the evening after supper.

Hope this helps.

I don't have insomnia.

I like staying up for days on end.

Honestly, there's not a whole lot you can do - eat turkey?
Drink alcohol?
Sleeping pills?

Mostly I just tough it out and act like an awful fucking dick to everyone for a few days (deal with it, bitches, I need my beauty sleep.)
That's what I do, except I take my pound of flesh cyberly with rabid arguments and biting insults

Watch King Kong (2005). I guarantee you will be asleep by the end of that colossal monstrosity. I haven't seen the end for the 3 times I watched it. IT'S 3 HOURS LONG.

This is my second day in a row without sleep. How long can you go without sleep before it starts causing brain damage?

Grog, books and keep of the computer/games at least a half hour before you try to sleep as it gives you time for your brain to shut down and relax (read this in a newspaper).

I have sleeping issues too, and I drink tea to solve them.
Tea is brilliant for putting you to sleep. If you're American, or retarded, or both, look it up. I consider it beneath me to explain what tea is.

And I'm not being prejudiced against Americans. I'm just saying, most Americans I know didn't have a clue what tea was till I explained it.

What about the men? =P

On topic, I'd have to say the best ting is to swear off caffiene, don't eat anything after 7pm in the evening, go to bed at the same time every night (make it a reasonable hour like 11), turn the lights of or on low, lie back and try to relax. If that doesn't work, read a little bit or listen to some quiet music (even if it's death metal, just tone the volume down a bit), then try again. If nothing else, at least lying in bed will give your body a change to physically relax, even if you feel a bit emotionally keyed up. Basically it's about getting your body into the habit of going to bed and being in an environment conducive to sleep, while remiving all possible hindrances like loud noises, chemical stimulants like caffiene etc. It sounds silly but it's basically like what you have to do with small children when you want them to go to bed and go to sleep at a reasonable time and not get up every five minutes looking to play.

Go to the doctor if you need prescription sleeping pills. I get insomnia regularly as part of my condition (I assume) so I have prescription pills.

:gasp: what are you talking about? Max, impure!? Neonbob? They lied to me! Noooooo!
:dramatic pan out while falling to knees and screaming into the sky:

OT - I've never really had a problem with insomnia since I have no internal clock because of my work schedule. I flip between day and night sleeping every week so I can sleep at all hours. My wife has insomnia at times though and a lot of the things justnotcricket mentioned do help. Caffiene, even if it doesn't 'affect' you will keep you up. Getting on the computer will keep you up. Going to bed at different times (especially if you have a strong internal clock) can keep you up. Having a TV or radio on too loud can keep you up. Try to remove those things and you 'should' see improvement.

It's okay, they have fooled many others before you, it's not too bad and especially nothing to be ashamed of

Yeah, I used to take them. If you go to any store, they are usually by the headache medicine. They work up to a point. If you have bad insomnia though, the chance of them working is like 50/50, at least for me anyway. I am on Lunesta now, and it works pretty well. I finally broke down and got a perscription.
