Hiya escapists.

So I was just thinking: What if someone made a dark and gritty 'The dark knight'-style Inspector Gadget movie? I would love to see how they handled him being incredibly stupid, Penny fixing everything, and still having the movie take itself seriously.

What do you think? Good idea? Bad? Would you like to see this?

Or maybe they could make a game...[sub]A game could have so much potential for awesomeness[/sub]

Yeah id like to see a messed up inspector gadget fighting real villians instead of his clone and a guy with a claw.

Half the premise of Gadget is that he's a bumbling fool who is constantly outthought by a ten-year-old girl. Kind of hard to grit that up without just starting from scratch and making a Street Sammy movie.

Inspector Gadget in a Dark Knight themed movie you say? I would watch it, it would be hilarious watching him accidental staying alive for the hole film. As for a game I think there is potential but it would probably be best left alone, I mean I don't want another childhood cartoon ruined.

[HEADING=3]How would it look, you ask? Well, i have good news: it's already being made, and here are some sneak peeks![/HEADING]

And yes, there's going to be a battle against Hitler... hundreds of Hitler clones, in fact, Matrix Reloaded-style!

I'm not really sure it would work, as said, Inspector Gadget has never really been anything approaching gritty, so I'm not sure a Darker And Edgier [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DarkerAndEdgier] reboot would work without completely changing it into something else.

Edit: Aww, beaten to the pic.

Well, the thing is in the comics Batman has always been gritty. That's why the transition was easier when it came to making a darker Batman film.

Inspector Gadget.. Not so much.
I'm not saying the transition will be smooth, but the series contains so many potentially awesome characters.

Besides, Batman was about a masked man and a young boy running around in tights with their underpants on the outside.

It wouldn't be inspector gadget any more. It would be Robocop. Gadget can't be dark, grim, gritty and dark (yeah dark again! never enough darkness!), since in his concept he is oblivious to all the the dangers, he never really fights with anyone, it's just his cousins quick thinking and fool's luck saving him time after time.
Even Nobby Nobbs from Discworld has more brains than Gadget, since that fat little guy at least had strong survival instinct.

No. Inspector Gadget is a fun light type comedy. Making it "dark" and "gritty" would be stupid. Its not meant o be serious if it were serious it would total miss the point and lose the spirit. Why does everything need to be dark no-a-days anyway can't things still be silly?

Holy shit thats epic!
I'd like to see a dark cartoon series of it rather than a movie, they could do so much more without messing it up like most things do.
And I'd watch it for the damn soundtrack!

We already have a gritty Inspector Gadget, namely this guy:
Oh, come on now. Robocop can't do anything simply by saying Go go gadget. And Gadget is a proper person, despite his robot-y-ness. He speaks and acts like a normal person (Granted, I don't know much about robocop, but from what I gather he doesn't really act human)

No, I wouldn't buy that.

A light hearted Inspector Gadget game in the vein of Ratchet and Clank though? Oh hell yes, I'd buy that game.

Actually the conversations between him and Sergeant Fred Colon do point out that Nobby is quite smart. Surprisingly so. At least, he's above the average intelligence of Ankh-Morpork at least, but that doesn't really say much.

I don't think a grimdark Inspector Gadget would work. In fact, there's not much changing up you can do with it. Even the cartoons managed to screw it all up with that newer version, Gadget and the Gadgetinies (not sure about the spelling here). That show was absolute crap.

The movie was disappointing. At least to me it was. There was no proper Inspector Gadget feel to it at all.

Just let Gadget be Gadget. He's already memorable now, no need to change him up.
