So having recently bought the THQ pack on Steam I've been on a Dawn of War spree and was noticing how much I enjoyed the game's visuals. The game was released almost six years ago but honestly I prefer the graphics in this game over those of most current gen games. Yeah, everything is a little blocky and the animations are slightly weird, but to me I just found the game very pleasing to look at. Especially the graphics for the orks in their cartoony weirdness made me choose them as my favorite army. Another game that comes to mind is World of Warcraft. Ignore whether you love or hate the game I'm just talking about visuals. It was made so that nearly any computer can run it so the graphics are kinda wonky, but Interesting models and such made it much more appealing to me than a game like GTA4 or Gears or whatever. Thoughts?

Visual Design is more important than graphics. Case-in-Point:

Saying "not a versus thread" when comparing two things doesn't change the fact that it's a versus thread.
OT: It depends. Certain games, like Borderlands, need interesting graphics (cell shading, etc.) to make it stand out. With Borderlands, Wind Waker, and Prince of Persia, I thought it worked out great. I'm sure that there are some games that do it terrible though.

my thoughts are, wow is no THAT out dated, because of just exactly what you said. they use graphics in interesting ways ( as support, not as something to lean one, that, and large buildings and cities help too XD )
also, thq's dawn of war rocks indeed, you can skipp the expansion with the sisters of battle though, all the other ones are pretymuch a bigyes.
also, i liked the style it had, yes, though it could have been a bit better, i am though disapointed at dawn of war 2 ( not as well engineered as i had hoped, so i cant play it, i wish they would have made it have company of heroes ish graphics, then i would have been able to run it, curse integrated graphics XD >.< )

Comparing two things doesn't necessarily make a thread a "VS" thread, but the inclusion of "VS" in the title of the thread certainly does.Radeonx said:

Games don't need to look exactly like real like to be good, or even outstanding.
