While i know this isn't really the place to ask for help like this i cant get help from places like yahoo answers and stuff, so I'm finally turning here.

So i'm at a friends house right now(living here for school), and friends dad offered to give me windows 7 64 so I could use adobe after effects CS5 and set up all this weird crap as well. SO Since then randomly programs have not been able to access the internet, and been sort of banned from it. For example I use bitlord(torrenting) and play fallen earth(MMO). About 2 weeks ago said friends dad was mad at me about something and while he told me to take a shower sad down at my comp, afterwards i could not torrent files using bitlord, whenever i hit resume nothing happens. This isn't a huge deal but would be nice to have it. Then just today my fallen earth launcher was completely unable to log me in, saying their was an issue with the connection. My computer is not the main computer and their is a central one, and im using wired internet. He knows the passwords and whatnot to my computer. I can tell you pretty much anything you need to know to help me and have considered just hacking a wireless internet connection(have a thing for it) but would not like to resort to that to see if it works.

The bottom line is can you tell me what is wrong or how i can fix this?

Im really not too computer savvy but should know most of what you are saying if you get technical. Thanks escapist and sorry

Perhaps he was dicking around with your hosts file cuz he's a dick. If it buggered up when he was using it, get him to fix it.

Sounds to me like your friend's father got an email from his provider notifying him of illegal activity transpiring on his connection. So he threw up some security to hopefully prevent you from costing him his connection, if not federal charges.

Not really advice, but if you're going to be downloading anything you're not suppose to, might as well leech your connection from an unknown source that way if the shit hits the fan, chances are you'll never find out about it. Unless of course it's serious enough for 'them' to put in the extra effort of tracking the activity to your PC and not just your unknowing host's IP.

Again, not advice. More of an ostrich effect.
