Has anyone ever had a discussion on a discussion board that ended well? Every single discussion I get into that has good back and forth, and is civil, only goes for about 4 posts before the other guy just says something that amounts to "I'm right, your wrong. Oh, your also a d-bag." I am really sick of this, every time I start to have a little fun on a discussion, it ends, and that is all I can get out of anyone for the rest of eternity.
Does this bother anyone else?

Yes, I've had good discussions multiple times on this one. Probably because of how well moderated it is. You usually don't see flame wars here.

I have trouble having good discussions on other sites because of the very reasons you stated.

Happens everywhere. Even here.

Granted not as often as other sites, but it still happens.

Every argument I have ever been in on this site has ended civil. The most previous one being the "Southpark 201" thread where the OP and I got into a huge argument and ended up being quoted on some obscure (to me at least) news site on the internet.

Yeah a bunch.

Oddly enough I've had discussions that have been very angry end up making friends as we had a misconception, and it was kind of a "Woa whoops! Lol my bad man.".

No, and FUCK YOU.
See what I did there? I turned a pleasent discussion into a personal assault
I'm Just kidding of course, I swear!! Actually most of the discussions here usually end well. Or at least I don't keep up with them long enough to see them go downhill.

Although I do remember a thread about the show King of the Hill that went really REALLY bad because someone brought up that they thought Peggy Hill was a complete and total *****. It really must have hit a nerve with some people. It was a shame too since that was a really good thread up until that point..

Actually I find the opposite happens for me. Most of my discussions start with me arguing with someone, or me saying something that sounds awful and having someone else argue with me. However, I'm actually a reasonable sort of person, so after a while it usually reaches a point where we see eye to eye, and what started out as a typical internet argument actually ends in a civil manner.

See, that's how conversation is supposed to work, but for some reason anonymity turns most people into douche bags. It often only takes one person being reasonable to turn it around, though.

uk, it's funny, in person, im a much bigger d-bag than on the internet. Thats partly because people can see that im joking but also because i try to give people the benifit of the doubt when on the internets, and they get no such luxury in person.
