This has happened to all of us. Lets say we make a thread, and we're the hit of the day, we get a 100 views in less than half a hour, and we fell like stars, a week passes, and it's like no one has ever heard of it. It's happened to a number of my threads, you might have remembered a couple of my old threads: My lego games thread, along with my spore thread, both at the very height of fame as Zero Punctuation, then just a useless page of words the next day. And even this thread will become one of the useless piles of words just like some of our once famous threads. So hears my question: Has this ever happened to you, and if so what is it? My other question is how active do we have to be to become internet famous and what do we have to talk about?

I was in a youtube machinima video (voicemail theater ep. 11- the guy singing). All my friends were exstatic for me. One week later and machinima's already on voicemail theater 14... no one cares that I will forever exist in the confindes of the Internet... until aliens destroy us all

You won't ever get famous here buddy- you aren't being original or creating anything, just commenting on other people's work and ideas. The only thing you'll get here is attention, and congratulations, you're Paris Hilton. You are nothing but a whorerunning around town eating a bunch of red carpets. But after you spit out the red fibers you're getting attention for antics not your talent. Forums like this are for fun, to gauge other's opinions- not to get famous.

If you want to get famous write a book, work on a game, go to the Olympics, become an artist. And work hard at it- that means you should probably get your head out of the forums and into the world.

Wow. I sense anger.

Mine's probably that misconceptions about PC gaming thread. Biggest thread I've ever started.

I had a "why so much hate for Sony" thread a while back, there were some pretty reasonable hates for Sony though many of them were admitedly biased and stupid.

I can't believe the baby is beating them all by like 40 million views.

Well I pride my self on my stupid and biased-ness.

I'd get famous by being the first man to slide round the world on grease wearing a necklace the size of wales

The Troy McClure (Simpsons) Syndrome.

Hi, I'm dukeh016, and you might remember me from such posts as "That's what she said" and "Thucydides' Secret Love Affair With Alcibiades; Rocking the Trireme."

My only claim to (extremely minor) internet fame is a Flash Animation made by two of my friends in Art School using characters I created. That's where my Avatar came from.

It's a question, I don't really want to become famous on the internet. Only in real life. Trust me, i don't want to be a star just because I said some funny stuff or made a site.

I made an internet video a couple of years ago of a friend crushing a can with his head. I used 'Air' by Bach played on a G-String for an intro leading into the video. For some stupid reason I left my email address at the end and roughly 50 people added me on msn and started harassing me, it caused me to change my email address.

Being funny for a living and creating websites takes talent and ability- to do them well anyway.

Maybe not fame, but certainly a respectable amount of infamy. I've had quite a few handles over the years and each was a master of its domain.

I like to think i have earned recognition for some of my efforts. In RP's and generally pissing reason all over threads that got off topic or just stupid.

You probably don't remember that, but it's ok, i know you appreciate it when you see it... even if you don't remember it.

Oh god i feel pointless...
