Recently my net has been signing on and offline at complete random, no matter what i was doing, and since i could find nothing else wrong with my setup, I obtianed a new modem of virgin, which was one of their recommended courses of action. But the problem persists, i just added a pci-ethernet card which the computer sees but it wont connect to the net, getting stuck at some point and just giving the yellow triangle.

So any ideas from you guys? I am stumped.

Have you tried re-setting everything to default? Maybe the problem isn't something to do with your setup but the line to your house?

1. Call your provider
2. Wait till you get a human on the line
3. Yell "Shit doesn't work!" in the phone followed by "You fix it!"
4. Wait till they send some guy to your home to repair the junk
5. See if it works properly after that guy repaired it
6. If problem persist, repeat

Once in a while my connection goes off for about a minute or two without giving me the option to turn it back on, but I have yet to call my provider.
It hasn't happened any more for months so it was probably their fault and they solved it by themselves.

yeah it was probly never the isp's fault and "something on your end" i had that with mine a while back, it kept resetting and i luckily got a free modem out of the deal but i did have some funny conversations with them, including one where the guy tried to tell me a ups cause the modem's power to die

tho the guy at apc did have a good laugh when i asked him if it was possible, knowing what the answer was already
