Hi i was wondering if anyone here can help me with a internet problem.

basically like 2 weeks ago internet worked fine.

then for no reason i can work out the connection to the internet would just stop and i would have to restart the computer. but after the restart it would work fine for hours or a day.

then the past 2 days the internet has been disconnecting but now a dial a connection window pops up. if i click dial it says there is an error and doesnt work.

any idea what could cause a perfectly fine internet connection to stop working like this. also i share a modem with my brother and when this is happening he has no issues so its just my connection to the internet playing up.

thanks

It could be a bazillion different things, I recommend calling your ISP. They're (supposed to be) the experts on the matter.

If you're brother has no issues, its probably your wireless receiver acting up. Get it checked or something.

Cables simplify (ironically make more messy) things greatly if you can have them long enough, just run them behind a curtain frame\sill\holder?

It's definitely an issue with your computer because 1) you brother has no issue, 2) it works after you restart your computer, and 3) you don't have to do anything with the modem/router. The only possible issues that don't involve your computer would be if it's the cable (decent chance) or the port on the router (probably very very slim chance).

One possible issue could be an IP conflict between the computers, but if DHCP is enabled, it shouldn't happen. Also, try giving yourself a static IP. Uninstall and re-install your computer's network driver (simply go to device driver and unistall it, restart, and Windows should find it and re-install the driver when it boots), and look for an updated driver as well since updated would be better if there is an update. If you troubleshooted every previous issue, it's probably the network interface card (NIC). NICs are super cheap.
