IIRC, when Interplay went tits up they liquidated their IPs to whoevever was buying. As in complete ownership of their IPs. I'm surprised that company still exists. It's probably just one angry guy who BOUGHT the name Interplay for forty seven cents and 3 cereal box tops.

And, as far as I care, Bethesda achieved success with the Fallout franchise that Interplay could never even hope to dream of.

But Interplay has a point.

If part of the deal was the right to do the MMO, they should be allowed to make the MMO.

The question is...Will this do anything to Fallout 3 and New Vegas, since they came after the deal was signed?
Part of the deal was that they would have most of it done by now but when Bethesda asked about it they said we don't have anything which kicked up this shit storm. If push comes to shove and the sale is cancelled guess who has to return the MONEY that was given. Yeah thats right Interplay. They have almost no money and they are trying to be a bully here when if you actually read anything they are anything but the victim in this whole scenario.

WE ARE BETHESDA, WE ARE LORD AND MASTER OVER ALL THINGS FALLOUT, BOW BEFORE US!

I'm siding with interplay on this, Bethesda's just kinda being a dick about the whole thing.

After reading this, I sort of want Bethesda to have it more. Not sure I can trust a company who can't count to make a decent game anymore. Hey Interplay, there is this number between three and five, did you know about this? It's called FOUR. Fallout 4 would be next, not Fallout 5.

Interplay, those people who ruined Black Isle Studios and made the only shit Fallout game. I find it odd that people seem to forget these facts and support Interplay. I don't care if Bethesda's being dickheaded, Interplay lost the franchise for a fucking reason.

...this is ridiculous, now. Interplay are just being stupid little children. I almost want Bethesda to take it all away from them for acting like obnoxious gobshites.

Fallout Tactics wasn't a bad game at all. It just wasn't enough to satisfy everyone who expected it to be Fallout 3. But for what it was - what it was meant to be - it was quite solid.

I say give the IP to Bioware and Obsidian as a joint venture. Let Bioware concentrate on the overall story arc and engine design, while Obsidian gets the actual plot and artwork design. They collaborate on the interaction mechanics.
BioWare are part of EA. Won't happen. Let Bethesda keep it, and they should continue to keep Obsidian 'close by' to work on the odd other title.

Well yeah, part of the deal was they get to make the mmo, but that right came with conditions that they supposedly broke

They should settle this in true post apocalyptic fashion.

Break a deal! Spin the wheel!

THUNDERDOME!
Well, Mad Max WAS an influence to Fallout...

My own opinion: Bethesda, you're making money hand over fist with the games as is. SHUT UP AND LET THEM MAKE THE MMO, DUMBASSES. Ruining it for everybody because you're a little less rich is fucking stupid.

Wow. It kinda looks like neither of them deserve the license. Hilariously childish on both sides.
The judge should take the Fallout ball off them and make them both sit in the naughty corner.

I just wish someone would program a Fallout game which doesnt crash every 5 minutes? Seriously just employ some decent programmers?
It's probably just a dodgy engine. The coding in some engines can be a little messy, which means you're gonna get a lot more bugs than usual. I imagine that's the case :3

Old vs. New going up in a battle that will be remembered for years to come.
Interplay: It's my game!
Bethesda: No it's my game!
Interplay: It's mine!

You know Interplay, I might be a little more supportive of you guys if you and Black Isle had actually finished Van Buren.

Agreed. The only real failings were a lack of QA testing and a departure from the established setting. (Tactics kind of exists in another parallel universe to the main franchise. Some of the elements flat out contradict main cannon, like the Calculator plot, some conflict seriously, the prevalence of real world weapons, for one, and southern rock for another.) But as a post apocalyptic X-Com type strategy game it's still very good.

so... New Vegas was Fallout 4?
lame.
the least they could have done was treat it like an expansion since its basically the same engine, same events, and same gameplay (not necessarily a bad thing, but its like what Crackdown 2 was to Crackdown 1)

i was hoping to see a proper Fallout 4 but i guess New Vegas will have to do :/

I'd love to see a modern day Interplay Fallout, but I'd hate to lose Bethesda's Fallouts.

But this thing is getting way out of hand and can be solved by Bethesda not being a dick about the Fallout MMO.

Interplay doesn't have a point; they already violated the agreement because they didn't start FOO before April 2009.

Haven't you essentially just described Fallout 2?
