1. Sega genesis and all the games my uncle already had for it(like 40ish), and it was 10-12 years ago, my uncle got me into it.
2. Final Fantasy for a while, not so much anymore. Now i just play any genre/series that i will find fun.
3. Rpgs mainly, yet i play all to an extent.
4. Ps3, Xbox360, and PC for this gen. I think all of last gens consoles but xbox. I play them all pretty much even.
5. I love my PC . Yet i prefer controllers for some reason.
6. I don't really have a stand because neither are out. Yet i've played all CoD games and no Battlefield. So this time i'm getting BF3 because I'm sick of CoD.

Just quote the questions above, answer them, and then provide your name, age, gender and online alias that you use most. You can also provide a photo, but that's completely optional.
1.) I first got into gaming by playing the original Zelda on my uncle's NES. Admittedly, it wasn't a huge interest to me at the time (though these days I love the game). When I was in junior high I played games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D on the PC with some of my friends. I had one friend, Kyle, who I played a lot of console games with. I had a SNES and he had a Sega Genesis, so every other day we'd play a different system. We played so many games that I can barely remember them all, I just remember our favorites at the time being Gunstar Heroes, Double Dragon/Battletoads, andDonkey Kong Country. Eventually we both upgraded to the N64, where once again, we played too many games to remember them all. We played a lot of 007: Goldeneye and Perfect Dark 64 though.
I got a copy of Command & Conquer 64 for my birthday one year and I loved it so much that I went out and bought all of the Command & Conquer games and expansion packs available at the time on PC. Though I still played console games, I mostly moved on to PC gaming at that point. While I bought the X-Box and X-Box 360 to play the Halo series with my friends, my heart stayed with PC gaming. I generally only buy console games these days if they're console exclusive.
So to be a bit more consise... I guess I got into gaming first with consoles because it was something fun to do with my friends and family. It was a social thing. These days I primarily play a lot of single-player games for the stories and experiences, but the social aspect is still there, as I still chat about these games with all my friends whenever I can. So yeah... despite the cliches about gamers, gaming is usually about the social aspect for me.
2.) Absolutely I've had favorite games and series. In no particular order, I'm a huge fan of Deus Ex (the original), System Shock 2, the Fallout series, the Command & Conquer series, StarCraft, the Resident Evil series, Jagged Alliance 2, Perfect Dark 64, the Donkey Kong Country series, Earthbound, U.N. Squadron, and probably a whole bunch more games that I'm forgetting.
Really, it'd be an easier question to answer if you were asking what games I've hated. The list would be much, much shorter.
3.) I prefer role-playing games, first and third-person shooters, and real-time or turn-based strategy games. I also generally like hybrids of the genres (like Deus Ex and System Shock 2 being FPS/RPG hybrids or Jagged Alliance 2 being a turn-based strategy/RPG hybrid).
That said, if a game is fun to me, genre doesn't matter a whole lot. The only games that I pretty much universally have zero fun with are sports and racing games.
4.) I own... Atari 2600, Apple IIE, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, GameBoy, GameBoy Pocket, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, Genesis, Game Gear, X-Box, X-Box 360, and a custom-built gaming PC.
I almost exclusively play games on my PC these days. The last console-exclusive game I played was Valkyria Chronicles on my college roommate's Playstation 3. Though I really like the feel of the X-Box 360 controller, I still prefer keyboard and mouse for their precision. Playing on the PC also makes it much easier to communicate with people who don't have/use mics, and I can use services like Skype or Ventrilo for better-quality voice chat. PC games also have fan community mods which can add a huge amount of replayability to easily-modded games like Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, or the downright awesome fan-made 1.13 patch for Jagged Alliance 2. There's also the quick fixes to bugs and errors in games that are provided by the fan community often faster than developer patches, assuming the developer patches the problem at all.
5.) See my last response. In short, I think the PC is the definitive gaming machine. While consoles have come a long way, and I harbor no ill-will toward them or their diehard fans, I just feel that PCs are capable of bringing the gaming experience to a level that consoles can't right now. That said, I think it's entirely possible that consoles could close the gap relatively soon.
6.) I'll probably buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. To me it's a more proven series, as I've played and very much enjoyed the other two Modern Warfares. I've had very little experience with the Battlefield series. I played Battlefield 1942 a little bit, but never got particularly into it (honestly, I liked the Desert Combat mod better than the actual game). I didn't particularly care for Battlefield: Vietnam, and I thought Battlefield 2: Modern Combat was awful. So it's probably a safer bet to get my mindless shooter fix from Modern Warfare than Battlefield given the prices of new games.
As for which one will be better... /shrug. Time will tell. Saying which one's "best" at this point in time when the vast majority of us haven't played either one, much less for any significant amount of time, is just silly.
Additionally, I'm not very thrilled that Battlefield 3 will require EA's Origin service. Frankly, I hate it when games require something like Origin or Steam to play (what happens when the day comes that these services no longer exist? Do I lose the ability to play my games?)... but I particularly dislike Origin and would prefer to just avoid it.
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
The first game I remember playing was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on my cousin's N64. That was a game I wasn't particularly into (I was 5) but I liked the Mario Party games we played later. But what really got me into gaming was the first Test Drive 6 and Need for Speed III (both on PC). Those games I played to death (especially Need for Speed, where you could be a cop), although I never beat them until I came back to them years later.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
My favourite games include Team Fortress 2, Bayonetta, Left 4 Dead 2, GRID, Shift 2, Trackmania United Bad Company 2, CoD4 and MW2. My favourite series are Call of Duty, Battlefield and Trackmania.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
Racing and shooter. I've also taken an interest in building games like Sim City and Rollercoaster Tycoon.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
I have both and Xbox 360 and PC. I've been on the PC since the start but I've also been playing a lot of Xbox in the 2 years since I've got it. I like both but I prefer my Xbox more because I like the accessibility. I play most of my shooters on the Xbox, and most of my racing games on the PC with a steering wheel.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
I think the PC is quite capable of having the best games available (as DICE is aiming to prove with Battlefield 3). But consoles are much more popular than PCs so we're usually stuck with bad console ports because the developers made the game on the console. But you can't blame them, they're going where the money is. Also, we don't need top of the line products to run games. I can run games today just fine on a PC that hasn't been upgraded since 2007, aside from an extra gig of RAM and Windows 7.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
I preordered Battlefield 3, and while Modern Warfare 3 looks awesome, I'm not getting it because Call of Duty hasn't gone anywhere different in the past few years. I do love Call of Duty, but I'm not getting another game until they can do something different. I find Battlefield more fun, because of the different roles I can play in combat, and I can be a team player.
Edit: Oh yeah, personal information (weren't we supposed to not post this on the Internet?): My name is Michael Brown, age 16, and I use the alias LITE992 the most.
Dave, 23, male. I usually go by Zorak or Grimlock
Me;
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
I played my first video game after kindergarten one day at a friends house, it was Pitfall and we played it on her mom's old Commodore 64. After that I was hooked. Shortly after I received a Gameboy. I also had access to my Uncle's PS1 at an early age.
2. Would you say you had any favorite games, or series?
Yes, TIE Fighter is probably my number one game, however I love Thief, STALKER, AC, Morrowind and many more.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
Anything with a decent story and fun game play. Mostly FPS games, WRPG's, sci-Fi flight sims, and occasionally a driving game or RTS.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
I currently have a PC, PS3, and my original Gameboy.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
It's fine.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this? Hmm, I've got to got with Battlefield 3, I loved BF2.
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
The PC is where I originally got into gaming. I couldn't comment on the very first game I played; however, I recall Age of Empire's playing a large role in my life--I would have been about 5 years old when I started playing that. I recall playing it from the moment I got home from school, to basically the time I went to bed. EVERYDAY. Excluding dinner and all that other yucky stuff. The average match would last ~10-30+ hours, literally. I could spend hours upon hours just collecting resources and defending my base. I found it extremely enjoyable, and it's played a huge role in my current love for gaming. Other games also pop into mind, Doom is one, arcade games, something along the lines of 501 games in 1, etc. I remember playing 'Risk' a hell of a lot at one stage.
A few years later I really got into Diablo 1, and eventually Diablo 2. Me and my brother would take 4 hour turns playing Diablo 2. I reckon I played ~6 hours a day for several years. Diablo 2 is the biggest reason I love fantasy RPG type games. I also owned a ps1 at some stage. Things are blurry, but I recall playing Crash Bandicoot, Abes Oddessy, Jurasic Park, some underwater exploration game, Tomb Raider, lots and lots of demos... Many more games, but as I said, things are blurry. I also owned an old Gameboy which I played Pokemon a lot.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
Off the top of my head: Final Fantasy (X, X-2, XIII), Kingdom Hearts 1, Age of Empire's series, Call of Duty series, Diablo series, Halo series, TES: Oblivion, Pokemon. There's more, but I can't think of them right now. I couldn't play half of my favorite games today, as most have aged poorly and my standards have increased. Plus I've played all my favorite games to death to the point of boredom.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
I love: RPG, RTS, and FPS the most.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
Currently; Xbox 360, Laptop, 3DS. My laptop can't handle most games, my Xbox 360 has been sitting on my floor for about 6 months. So currently I'm playing the 3DS a lot. But I've play with the Xbox 360 and Laptop a lot too, I'm just currently out of good games to play. I'll be getting MW3, Skyrim and possibly Battlefield 3 for Xbox 360, and Mario Kart 3DS, Kid Icarus, and several others... I'll play them all to death.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
It's good. I can't currently play many games, but if I had a better machine I would. Some recent games I've really enjoy include Minecraft, Terraria, Cave Story, and Company of Heroes (although CoH overheats my lappy).
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
I've been a long time fan of Call of Duty. I've played them all since Call of Duty 4 and loved them all. Getting around 15-25 days up on each title. I haven't played Battlefield all that much. What I have played, I haven't enjoyed. But I haven't played online, so I don't want to comment. I think I'll get Battlefield 3, as I'm sure it'll be a good game. The two titles have different agenda's, so it's somewhat ignorant to compare them.
My name is Cameron, I'm 20/M. I don't have a specific online alias, but I use F4LL3N a lot.
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
Well I started gaming in the early 90's, when I was four or fives years old. I only had an NES and N64 growing up, and only had a very few games for each. But I played the hell out of those games. To be fair, I'd say I started gaming as a hobby at around 11 years old on the N64.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
For series, it's between The Legend of Zelda and Mass Effect. I can't choose. Mass Effect 2 is my favorite game.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
RPGs, 3D platformers, and action-adventure games.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
I currently own a Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, and a DS Lite. My computer is a Macbook Pro, so I can only play a few games on it (Team Fortress 2, Portal and Portal 2, Knights of the Old Republic).
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
It seems like the best way to go, honestly (unless you like Japanese games. Then it's probably the worst option). It's poorly advertised, though. I didn't know PC gaming was a viable option until just a couple years ago. Unless you're part of a vibrant gaming community or have friends who are PC gamers, you'll likely never hear much about PC gaming outside Facebook games.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
No opinion, as I've never played a game in either series and the genre doesn't appeal to me (with very rare exceptions).
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
My first console per say was an old gameboy pocket. I got it when I was in kindergarden. I honestly didn't really play much until the next christmas when I got a N64 and Mario.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
I honestly don't. If you go by hours played, then it would have to be Pokemon followed by Oblivion. But really, I don't really have a favorite
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
I don't have a prefered genre. But I really only play games that have 1 of 2 things. A good engaging story, or multiplayer so I can play with friends.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
Genesis, N64, PS2, Xbox, Xbox360, Gamecube, Wii, Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, DS, PSP, PC, PS1. I guess I would play the Xbox360 the most currently. But last gen it was the PS2. And before that it was the N64. Now I'm not including portables because I mostly play those when I'm traveling.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
PC is variable. Some PCs are great gaming machines and others are not. Its still a great medium to play on but the variable in hardware probably make it difficult to design for.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
I don't really care. At all. They both will be good games. Which one I get will depend on which one my gf gets so I can play with her.
{1} I started on an Atari 2600 when I was a kid, because my brothers started playing and I was intrigued.
{2} It's a little hard, because I've played alot of good ones, but let's say Persona for the sake of argument.
{3} It's easier to ask me what I DON'T like.
{4} Currently? Playstations 1, 2, and 3. I also have working older equipment, including the Atari. Most-played will be along the Playstation line, varied on which one.
{5} I think it's on equal-opposite standing with consoles, mostly because all of the worthless arguments seem to flesh out the good and the bad on both sides and no side appears to be really superior at all. Really, the business speaks for itself and I don't believe consoles OR PCs will be wiped out in the gaming market any time soon.
{6} *Snerk* I'm not interested in either of those games. I'm alright with FPSs overall, but I was just never a fan of either series. Sorry if that doesn't help.
1. I really dont know how, but it got mr when i was around 4.
2. not really, I just shift interests quickly
3. not particularly.
4.I've got a 360 and a wii and of course a computer. I tend to do most on the 360 with the wii playing exclusives, though my pc is pretty much relegated to TF2.
5.It seems easier to develop for, as you can make a game in whatever programming language you want. but it also can be a home to a myriad of technical problems
6. Personally I don't give a damn.
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
I actually started playing video games at a very young age. My older half-brother owned a PS and sometimes he would let me play games such as Spyro and Crash on it. It wasn't until I was 8 and in the hospital for appendicitis that my mother bought me a GBA along with the original Pokemon Silver to help keep me entertained. I immediately fell in love with it. After I left the hospital, my dad took me to a toy shop and I bought me a PS2 with two games, Barbie Horse Adventures and Kingdom Hearts. (You might guess which one I liked better ;p)
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
Kingdom Hearts for sure. It was the game that really got me. To some people, the game seems childish and immature, but as an 8 year old, it was rich utopia of gameplay and story. I think I learned more life lessons from Sora and his friends then I have from any Disney movie or kid's show XD It did make me want to be a good person and I'm grateful for that.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
Overall, I do prefer RPGs over shooters. It's not that I don't like guns, it's just that I can't shoot for my life on a console. Plus, story is a huge component for me. If a game doesn't have a good story, I just can't play it.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
I own a lot. PS2, PS3, DS, 3DS, PSP, Xbox 360. I must say I use the PS3 the most (Not because of fanboying) because I grew up on the Playstation controller X3 I feel a closer connection with it over the 360. I only own about 5 games on Xbox which are all exclusives (Fables & Mass Effects)
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
I think it's good console for the artistic side of gaming. I mean, there are plenty of indie games that I think are quite lovely on the PC (Amnesia, anyone?) without the need of fancy graphics. Good graphics don't make a good game.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
I just watch several gameplay trailers on these two games and honestly, to a non-fps player such as I, they look the same to me. (I SAID IT. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE. COME AT ME!)
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
Our parents purchased my twin sister and I an NES I think in 1987. We enjoyed going to the arcades a lot before then.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
Secret of Mana for the SNES is one of my all time favorite games, fantasy and early coop.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
I enjoy cooperative strategy titles and MMOs.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
I own a gaming PC, Wii and an older PS1 system, still have SNES too. I am primarily a PC gamer.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
I love the PC as a gaming machine, but the publishers and developers often get in the way of the fun.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
I don't really care about FPS games.
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
Around eighties. It started with this :
http://www.fakt.pl/m/Repozytorium.Obiekt.aspx/-580/-500/faktonline/633933793364360029.jpg
Technically, it should be considered as, eeeeeeeeee, ummmmmmmmm, portable quasi-console.
Then people moved to ZX Spectrums and such. But yep, good, old "russian games" conquered our soil first.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
For moment i thought about Baldur's Gate, but no.
Fallout. I like each and every PC title in this series. Yes, even Tactics.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
Sandbox games. Obviously cRPGs, but not only.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
PC desktop player. I'm not prejudiced against consoles.
Simply - titles i like most are exclusive to this platform.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
+ old games
+ modding, yay modding, go team mod !
- buggy, unpolished games
- one spends too much time trying to get some titles to work :|
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
Naaaaaaaaaah. Too old for joining flame war over cosmetical differences.
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
I can't remember that far back, frankly. I started off early in life with the NES.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
Yes, I've had several favorite games, and series.
To name a few: Lost Planet 2, Saints Row 2, Saints row 3 if it counts, the Dynasty Warriors series, the Samurai Warriors series, the Samurai Shodown series, the Last Blade series, the King of Fighters series, Fallout new vegas and it's DLC, the Dynasty Warriors Gundam series, the Rainbow Six Vegas games, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, the Ghost in the Shell video games, and I think I'll stop my list here.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
Action games. Puzzle Games. Third person shooters. I'll play most any game if I think I can enjoy it.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
NES, Atari (I forget the number), Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, I guess PC since i'm using one now , PS3, X-box 360.
I play my PS3 the most. Free games with plus membership, I like the games, I like being able to play with others for free. Playstation Home is a bonus. Numerous reasons.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
It's great if you have the money to sink into it it. The modding community can extend a game's lifespan immensely, and it's a definite advantage over consoles.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
I don't like either of them. I'm not the sort to enjoy playing against other people. This is especially so if I have to be a guy in the process.
Bad enough there's no playable female characters as it is.
Hope I helped! :3
P.S. I'm female, and old enough to have gotten the NES when it debuted stateside. Aside from that I'd like to remain anonymous.
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
Gaming has basically always been a part of my life. Initially however, I preferred to watch others play than actually participate myself - mostly games like Tekken, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. The first literal console I had was my GameBoy Pocket with Pokemon Red, and then later Pokemon Silver, which was my first sort of foray into proper gaming - I later got given a Sega Genesis with Sonic 1 and 2, and then a PS1. It was the PS1 that really got me into gaming as a hobby, but the PS2 brought me into the hardcore side.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
Kingdom Hearts - fantastic storyline, characters, music, gameplay, and childhood Disney nostalgia. Sora taught me a lot, and they were the perfect protagonists to a young girl - kids capable of anything, that would stop at nothing, and believed in everything.
Tomb Raider - great exploration (which appealed to me greatly because of my love for archaeology and studying the ancients) and Lara herself became my heroine as a strong and independent woman, whom I'd never seen beforehand.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
I usually play RPGs, because of the ability to pace and create my own story (rather than play as generic male guy), but any game with a strong emphasis on story and characters is fine.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
Sega Genesis, PS1, PS2, PS3, GameBoy and PC (technically). I mostly play the PS3, because of all my latest and unbeaten games being on that platform, and I've been brought up playing on consoles - especially the Playstation series. I'd play on the PC if it could handle it.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
It definitely has the advantage over consoles as being able to adapt technically where the consoles are rigid. Mods are also a huge deal in the current gaming generation, so they work well here. The only unfortunate thing is their being used for other things as well - leaving less space for saves, content, and running capacity. I still consider it to be a gaming platform, and the only reason for its becoming apparently less popular is because of the demand for it to perform other tasks making it more difficult to use, while consoles are designed for the one purpose.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
I'll side with Battlefield 3 because I know the series better and have actually owned past games from it - however, from an outsiders perspective, they are very similar. It's difficult to pit two games together, however, when they contain different gameplay mechanics or story elements. As a fan of both Tomb Raider and Uncharted, I get frustrated when people constantly compare the two, or say they copy from each other, just because they share the element of raiding ancient tombs when they play and look completely different. So, I understand that frustration, and only side with the series I know better.
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
I had been playing games on a relative's NES (the game Deja Vu comes to my mind) and SNES for some time, but I first started to really get into games when I got my Sega Dreamcast, a console that I still think is one of the best ever made, failing only because of bad controller layout. (Trust me, I can explain in detail why the controller was the ruin of the console.) So, about 1999 - 2000.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
My computer is ancient and I don't have any of the latest consoles, so I've been out of the gaming loop a bit. But I would have to say Half-Life 2 and the episodes (I hated Half-Life 1), Sonic Adventure 1 (probably the last TRULY GREAT Sonic game), Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 (Best RTS ever in my opinion, been playing it since 2001), TimeSplitters 2 and 3, but mostly 2 and Rome: Total War.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
I like FPS's, but I have a soft spot for MYST-style graphics and point-and-click adventure games. The only fantasy RPG series I can get into are The Elder Scrolls games.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
An ancient PC that I'm sure the Smithsonian would be interested in (it's not THAT old, but the GeForce 6600GT lost it's edge many years ago), a PS2, a Dreamcast I don't play with enough, an XBOX and a pile of trash known as a "Gamecube". Worst mistake I ever made was buying one of those overpriced paper-weights.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
It's the best and most versatile. You have ancient classics that are still available to be played, indie classics like "Sleep is Death", AAA games that can take advantage of the PC's superior hardware, but most importantly the ability to mod games.
I remember the feeling when I got my first mod for Oblivion to work. Better than a million headshots in a shooter.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
They're two totally different games. People see that they take place in the present day and say "HEY! BATTLEFIELD IS COPYING CALL OF DUTY BECAUSE IT TAKES PLACE NOW!" or "Battlefield 3 looks too much like CoD." Well you know what? If that's so, then Call of Duty is copying and looks like Counter-Stike. CSers were playing in modern times long before CoD finally decided that shooting Nazi's got boring and went straight to Russians after a brief tango with the Japanese.
I played Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Battlefield 1942 back in the day. They both took place in World War 2, much like how they are both now taking place in today's day and age, and they were two TOTALLY DIFFERENT GAMES. If you want to see a rip-off, look at that new Medal of Honor game. No finer example of trying to cash in on what's popular and best selling.
As for me, I prefer neither. Battlefield 3, last time I heard, has Origin, which lets EA spy on your computer and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will follow the same guideline as the previous games: [insert country or faction here] are being dicks, so player must travel through linear, tightly scripted levels to kill anyone not American. Of course, now that you can apparently play as soldiers from different countries, it will probably be "kill anyone that's Russian."
I myself am looking forward to Skyrim and getting Heroes of Stalingrad once I upgrade my PC.

]1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby? I can't really think of a time when I was not into games
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series? The elder scrolls
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing? RPG
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why? I have a pc and xbox 360 but play xbox 360 more due to the fact that my pc is to slow to run the games I like
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine? I have played quite a few games on the pc and there nothing wrong with it maybe better for some games but I play xbox 360 more due to the speed of my pc
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this? I never played battlefield but if modem warfare ended now they could still save themselves from selling out like halo has
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
I've been playing games as long as I remember. I think I was something like 4 or 5 years old when I first picked up a NES controller for the first time. And yeah, my first game was the original Super Mario Bros. on the NES. 2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
Definitely. I adore the Mass Effect series. I also really like all the installations of the Metal Gear Solid series. I also was a semi-hardcore WoW player for around 5 years. My favourite game, however, would probably be the original Deus Ex. 3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
I very much like the RPG genre, although I'm not a genre-purist in any way. 4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
At the moment I own a PS3 and a gaming PC. I play most of my games on the PC mainly because I happen to prefer the platform. It's technically superior, can do what every console does and games for it are usually cheaper (compared to the prizes here in Finland). I use my PS3 mainly for console exclusives. 5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
As I mentioned, I do prefer the PC. It is superior in terms of hardware, it can do what every console does and the games are cheaper. I really like the digital market on the PC, particularly Steam. 6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
I do not take a stand. I'm not interested in playing either of them. I am just not interested in military shooters, and there's way better online experiences to be had out there: namely in the form of Team Fortress 2.
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
First gaming device was a PC. The family PC that was bought for my Dads work. I was about 2 or 3 years old when this happened. I don't really know why we had games except that we had them. First time I 'got' into games probably wasn't until a few years ago when I really started thinking more about them and went out of my way to try to purchase and play them.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
Back on the N64 (our first home console) my favourite would have been Donkey Kong 64.
Now it's the Final Fantasy Series with Final Fantasy X being my favourite game of all time.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
JRPGs.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
N64, PS3, PS2, PSP, DS, PC
PS2, the fact that the graphics are still bearable, Final Fantasy X is on it and a truck load of other great games makes it fantastic. It also has a lot of Nostalgia value.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
Fantastic for RTS and FPS games particularly. I've always liked building computers and having my own so I really like it as a gaming platform in general. Lately however, I've become more lazy and sometimes would much rather sit in a lounge chair which is more comfortable playing with a controller on a console rather than sit up at a desk.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
I'm not really interested in online FPS games but, both look like good games. Battlefield 3 is really impressive in it's presentation and I'm really interested in it because of that. I'm interested in COD MW 3 because of Captain Price. Ever since I saved him in COD 1 (the first cod game) he's stood out as a cool character to me and I'd like to see what happens.
I live in Australia, 18 years old. What else did you want to know about me?
1. In terms of your first consoles and games, how and when did you first get into gaming as a hobby?
I got my first console(a Playstation) when I was six or seven years old. You could probably call it a hobby back then since I played like insane, but I didn't really get into gaming until around the age of 15-16.
2. Would you say you had any favourite games, or series?
Uncharted and God of War are pretty high up on my ladder.
3. Any genres you tend to prefer playing?
Mainly RPGs and shooters.
4. Regarding platforms, which do you own? Of those, what do you play most and why?
Playstation 3
Xbox 360
Playstation 2
Gamecube
Gameboy/Gameboy Advanced(do they count?)
The PS3 is definetly my favorite. Don't want to start a flame war, but I consider it to be superior to the 360 in every way.
5. What do you think of the PC as a gaming machine?
Well, I play tons of MMO games on my computer and I used to be a PC gamer before I got my 360 - but overall I've never really seen a computer as a gaming machine.
6. Finally, with the imminent release of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there's a lot of debate amongst the online FPS crowd as to which is better. Where do you stand on this?
Not intrested in either. I prefer single player games(had enough of online shooters), and with especially CoD's standard of worthless, four hour long campains I've never gotten into either of the series.
You know, I wonder, will we get to see the article? I wonder how all those interviews will be condensed and if a general theme common through most of them is going to be drawn or if the unusual ones that stand out will be the ones mentioned instead. What say you, TC?
