It looks like a more square vita lol.

But yeah, how is this a switch if it's permanently in handheld mode. It's more of a nintendo stay.

Ummm, seeing as the Switch is basically a handheld console that you can plug into the tv, what is the point of this?

I'm glad I didn't wait for the Switch Lite to be announced before I decided to buy one, I think I would of been disappointed.

It's gonna be cheaper and weaker (even weaker) then the normal switch, and they're making a switch pro which is gonna be stronger apparently. That's what I have my eye on cause I need Astral Chains in my life haha.

Shouldn't it be other way around? It's a dedicated handheld. Nintendo Move?

I wonder if that suggest a chance of N going in the opposite direction, and announcing a more powerful, stationary """"Switch"""" in the future?
Haha. Just joking... Most likely not.

Unles...

Oh, so it's confirmed. Nevermind, then.

If you already have a Switch, then this thing is pointless. If you don't because you wanted a cheaper Switch (for some reason), then here you go I guess.

This is basically Nintendo killing off the 3DS. Allowing portable people to have a cheaper console to take around with them. (Big in Japan)

As usual the people who claimed there was going to be a Switch Pro or whatever now have egg on their face. It's not surprising, especially considering how well the thing is selling in Japan where handhelds are king. The problem is that some games like the Labo are basically unplayable with this.

Pointless? If the size difference finally allows it to be actually portable (as in, will it now fit in my pockets or at worst, will it fit in my lunch box?), I'd be VERY interested in buying it.

My biggest problem with the current Switch (and why I haven't considered buying one even though I have a 20 minute light rail ride in the morning and another 20 min in the afternoon) is that for a portable console, it's not very portable. Fix that issue and I'm a hell of a lot more likely to buy one.

Nah there's gonna be a pro one too. They're making two new ones.

What's the hardware differences, and the price difference?
Basically a different D-pad, no HD rumble, controllers are built in, and it's $200 instead of $300. It's clearly meant to be targeted at kids (not surprising with the new Pokemon coming out)

At first glance, I thought that it was cool, but the more I think about it, the more I think it is pointless.

The thing is $199, which is fine, but assuming that they decide to price it exactly the same in GBP - and they probably will - I can get a regular Switch for 50 pounds more.

With that I get a bigger screen, the ability to detach my controllers and play with a friend, and a dock to plug it into TV.

Its not like the regular Switch isn't portable enough as it is.

I'd understand a Switch Pro, but I cannot really see this catching on.

So this is the New Coke of the Switch, right?
No. This doesn't seem intended to replace the Switch. The New Coke was.
I thought the whole New Coke thing was just a marketing ploy - New Coke is terrible, bring back Coke Classic at a higher price. So the Switch Jr is never intended to work, only make the switch look better by comparisons.
