So THAT's the City 17 introduction...

Ahoy there new Escapist, you are very welcome. I must say, you have good taste. I think you'll fit in here.

I'm FelixFox, obviously. You can probably find me perusing the threads and telling people to shut up because they are stupid or use bad English, voicing my opinion, role-playing, making jokes and just about anything else.

Who is this NeonBob person?

The second language I learned was actually Latin (in school of course, startet in the 5th grade, got my "Latinum" after 10th grade with a "B"). I was taught English not until 7th grade, but the most of it I taught myself through stays abroad in London, Austin TX, and Toronto, plus watching movies in English and reading booklets of Audio CDs.

Right now I'm reading a funny book that had big succsess in Germany, by Wladimir Kaminer, a Russian who came here in the early 90s. It's called "Russendisko". It's hilarious. I really enjoy his (Russian?) kind of humor.
Okay, now i get it about the language. Nice that you enjoy our, let's say "flavor", of jokes.

Also, lrn2quote :p

Hey there, hope you enjoy your stay.

Oh, and I also love V for Vendetta, to the point I memorized V's whole introductory dialogue (You know, "In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran...").

I don't know if this is wanted here, but I am used to people introducing themselves in their 1st post.

So here we go..

I'm Carsten, 24 years of age, live in Germany, student at lawschool, not married, no kids. Enjoy Music, Films, and PC-Gaming. Practice martial arts as a hobby (WT (once), Karate (since about 2 years), Luta Livre (of late)).

All time favourite games:

Eye of the Beholder, Monkey Island 1&2 What, not Curse?, Indiana Jones 3&4, Zelda (Gameboy), Civilisation, GTA Series, Jagged Alliance 1&2, Resident Evil 1&2, SW KOTOR 1&2, Half-Life/Opp.Force/Counterstrike (Beta 4.8 till V.1.1), Ultima Online (Freeshards only), Battlefield 2, CoD:MW 1&2, TES4: Oblivion Played Morrowind? Not Oblivion-trolling, I love that game, just wondering., Fallout 1,2,3, Batman Arkham Asylum YES! Another mark on the chart, Batman., Dragon Age.

Favourite Movies 2000-2009:
Is Yip Man a Yes Man parody, or a typing error?
1.Defiance (2008)
2.Yip Man (2008)
3.The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008)Haven't seen that. Heard it was based on a kid's book, so I gave it a miss. Is it good?
4.Eastern Promises (2007)
5.Into the Wild (2007)
6.Million Dollar Baby (2004)
7.28 Days Later (2002)
8.Saints and Soldiers (2003)
9.V for Vendetta (2005) Give the graphic novel a read if you haven't already. Brilliant.
10.Resident Evil Extinction (2007) Did they make another RE movie after Extinction? I haven't heard a peep from the movies recently.

Thats it so far..

hello everybody!
Welcome, fellow Escapist. See my responses in bold text.

Nice to meet the statistics you posted.
Wait, those are not statistics... damnit.

And there goes my big chance to be unnecessarily rude to a random person. *sigh*

Discussion value?

Anywho welcome to the escapist. It's nice that a newcomer is straightforward in introducing themselves and doesn't spend years making out like they're some kind of enigma wrapped in a mystery and a riddle.

Hello there Cobra.
Welcome to the Escapist. I hope you behave well and enjoy your stay on this wonderful site.
If you feel a slight tingling at the back of your neck, pay it no mind. That's just the site taking part of your soul to power the servers.

<url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.112832>Here are <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.116826>some links you should be sure to read.
Weclome to the Escapist good sir. This here is NeonBob, King of the Escapist, and I am a lowly peon. I feel crushed under the aura alone of His Majesty's holy post count.

OK, enough ass kissing. Enjoy your stay, watch out for religious/Halo threads, and do not attempt to make us like Michael Atkinson.
...seriously.
I almost feel violated after that.

@killer-corkonian:

- Monkey Island: I honestly always wanted to play that. I don't know, somehow it got lost on the way, maybe because it came out so many years later? I think I'll buy it. Should not be to expensive, and I need something "new", now that I finished Dragon Age.

- Yes I started playing Morrowind. I bought it with Oblivian, because I thought I should do that in terms of "Story & History". The thing was though... I started playing and after about 30 minutes I felt really lost, since the "world" was _so_ huge. I stopped playing it (I know, shame on me!) and started Oblivian right on.... and loved it from the very beginning!

- Yip Man has nothing to with Yes Man, no :) But fair enough!

Yip Man was one of the older guys (if not _the_ older guy) the roots of Wing Tsun (or Wing Chun, or Ving Tshun ^^) can be followed back to. Born in Foshan, died in Hong Kong, he was the initiate trainer of Bruce Lee (which does not mean Bruce Lee practiced Wing Chun, he made up his own style called "Jeet Kune Do", people tend to mix that up). Anyways, the movie "Yip Man" is about the live of Yip Man. It's a chinese production afaik, sometimes biographical, sometimes Chinese wishful thinking. But despite all that, it's a great Martial Arts Drama, that interested me in perticular, since it's Wing Chun vs. Karate.

- The Boy in the striped Pyjamas: I doubt that it was based on a book for children, since the topic is very.... hard stuff. The good thing about the flick though is, that it trys to view all that NAZI brainwash race crap, through the eyes of a German boy, who has contact with a Jewish boy the same age. Now the Jewish boy happens to be trapped in a concentration camp and the German boys Father happens to be the "Director" of that very camp. The kids don't really understand whats happenin though. I hope that did not spoil anything, but it's actually what you will understand from the trailer. I can say, that I really liked the movie, but as you can imagine, it is more of a sad story.

- I will try to get the "comic". I still did not watch WATCHMEN, since I wanna read the "comic" first.

- Yes they did, but it's an Anime "Resident Evil: Degeneration". But they are working on a new RE, following the "real" Movie Series afaik.
