Greetings, people of the Escapist!

I believe it's about time I introduced myself. I've been hanging around these parts for a good few years now, and I've finally decided to join in with the fun! Better late than never.

I'll kick my first post off with the topic of Introductions. Be it game, film, or just entertaining stories, let's hear your favourites.

For me, It's got to be Half Life. Valve hit the nail on the head with that one. The tram through Black Mesa is the best ride to work I think I'll ever have. Half Life is the easy choice though, so I'm going to mention The Lion King too. Even as an adult, that opening scene gives me goosebumps. Seeing the animal kingdom come together to witness the christening of Simba is, for me, as majestic as any royal celebration.

So let's hear some of your favourite intros!

Welcome to the Escapist.
Since you've been lurking here a while,
I'll spare you the welcome speech about the basement and not feeding the trolls and all that.

OT: The intro to the first Pokemon movie.
With the bubbles and the scientists discovering the mew fossil,
and Mewtwo killing everyone in the lab.
[sub][sub]It seemed like they put more effort into that one than they did any movie after.[/sub][/sub]

Welcome to posting on the escapist,

Sexism threads are that way----->

<-----Gun law threads that way

Favorite story, beyond the deep woods, should be made into a film. Love it to bits, the book series got me into steam punk from a young age.

You are a disgrace to The Escapist tradition. You must warn the newcomers!

By the way OP, avoid the basement. Enjoy your stay and love all the children people... well almost all of them I guess.

OT: My favourite film of all time would have to be the swedish vampire film Let The Right One In. I'm not entirely sure why but the atmosphere, characters, soundtrack and story create such a brilliant blend that I just adore it.

Cheers for the directions, I'll be sure to tread the fine line that avoids them both

And that is one Funky front cover... May well check that out!

Pretty much dude, good luck it's a fine line to walk.

Yeah, i think its got different cover art to what i have seen now, whilst it's a children's book as much as harry potter is it's worth reading, being 23 i re-read it last year and enjoyed it a lot still.

Welcome to the forums, Friendo!

We were all lurkers once, but now we've come into the light...embrace the light!

OT: Favourite game would have to be Metal Gear Solid 3, first game that really kind of hit me hard emotionally. Favourite book just to switch it up, The Great Gatsby.

That's probably my favourite film of the three. It's a tough call though and many people disagree, but for me Fellowship has got something special.

Hell to the damn fucking yeah it's the best of the three!

Two Towers was the weakest IMO and Return of the King was brilliant but Fellowship was definetely the best.

Roll on December, The Hobbit is going to be film of the year.

Cannot wait for the 12-disc, special-edition, extended-cut, box set that'll come out in a couple of years. The LOTR box set is one of my most prized possessions. I have no idea what's in the theatrical release though, because I'm so used to all the extra scenes.

God, I hope PJ saves some extra stuff for The Hobbit!

I'm getting the Blu Ray extended edition for Christmas, my dad has the extended DVD box set.

I hope to God he does a good job on this, the amount of hype is phenominal. I get the feeling he's going to change quite a bit from the book though. He's adding the siege of Sauron's Mirkwood fortress in the film.

Have you been watching the Diaries they've been releasing? I don't think any of us eagerly awaiting fans will be disapointed.

To be truthful, I haven't read The Hobbit yet. Please don't hurt me. I plan to before the film is released, but I'm still reading LOTR at the minute. I picked it up before I went on holiday this summer, because I couldn't get into the books when I was younger. I thought, "Well now is as good a time as any." On chapter 2 of book 4 at the moment. I should really start reading before going to bed, if I'm to finish The Hobbit before the film comes out...

Meh I tend to avoid behind the scenes stuff, kind of ruins the excitement for me.

I read the Hobbit the other day, I actually really enjoyed it but it was quite short.

Now I just need to finish LOTR... I'm still on the first one :/
