I miss Carnivale. I caught it on VoD (kind of a cable provider's version of Netflix) a couple years ago and tore through it, then wondered when the next season was starting. So I went online ... and got sad. Now I think it's hilarious when I see Brother Justin in anything.

Despite not being called it this topic is basically purely refering to anime, since I can't name any shows here in the US that really put effort into their openings.
A ton of them, someone already mentioned Nichijou(I can't believe there isn't a female singer in that songs!) so I'll ad future diaries(Mirai Nikki) into the mix, that opening is just so awesome. Plus is just passed 3.5 million views.

I've been meaning to watch Clannad for the longest time, but that just jumped it from 8th on the list to #1.

Here is the intro of Aria the Animation, tell me what you think:

Awesome! Another Aria fan... thing is, though, you post one, and it's just not enough... because the op changed (visually, that is) for every episode... so that's 53 opening animations... -_- and its content was typically connected with the episode's plot.

Anyway, loved that series, great manga ('specially when you find out who her penpal is)... and now reading Kozue Amano's new manga Amanchu!, which is just as awesomely slice-of-life-y.

The song is still the same for the season, but yeah I know the intro changes each episode. I like how the intro is PART of the episode, its one of the main reasons I make sure to watch it every time. I haven't read the manga but I imagine its the same kind of thing, maybe more silliness. To be honest, Aria is my first real slice-of-life since I thought they were just boring dramas. But no, it turns out that slice-of-life is awesome in every way :O

And jumping to 2nd on my "anime to watch" list, an anime that I had never heard of:

I fucking love the intros and outros of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Anything Shinichiro Watanabe makes is pure gold. I've watched entire animes solely for the reason that he made or helped make the music. I usually enjoyed them for their own merits later, but he is the perfect spark that starts my flame of interest.

All of Gurren Lagaan puts a huge smile on my face. Except some parts... But definitely my #1 anime for mecha and silliness. FLCL comes close to matching Gurren Lagaan for silliness, but there are parts of Gurren Lagaan that contain more silliness than entire seasons of silly anime.

That could be an entirely new topic by itself, "Why are anime intros so good and so catchy, but non-anime intros usually bland/boring/shitty/poorly made?"

Maybe a separate thread devoted to non-anime intros that you don't want to skip?
