What ads in the ad-verse are adverse to what they advertise?

Thanks to falling incomes from TV adverts, advertising firms are trying new tactics and refining old methods to sell products. Currently ads can be found on/in:
- The internet plays host to banner ads, pop-ups, pre-cursor ads to video content, spam and viral ads.
- Billboards and posters.
- Radio and TV ad breaks.
- Junk mail
- cold calling
- Newspapers and magazines
- Films. From Bladerunner having a scary amount of brands involved to Will Smith harping on about Converses in i,robot to James Bond's love of martinis and Aston Martins to the human torch getting thrown against a massive burger king billboard in the fantastic four.

In essence which style of ads do you enjoy? which do you tolerate? and which make you very, very, angry and put you off the ever buying the product?

I LOVE cold callers trying to sell me stuff, just to fuck around with them.

"So...how much debt do you have?"
"About £500,000"
"What?"

I don't really mind internet banners or pop-ups, because I have a neat program that blocks almost every banner out there.

Other than that, I have never really been bothered by adverts in films. I mean.. if it didn't bother me while watching Happy Gilmore, it never will bother me.

The ones that make me very angry are adverts on TV and in magazines. Yesterday, my girlfriend was browsing through some womens magazine and over half of it was composed of adverts. I really don't see how anyone could still be willing to pay for such trash.

I've got to try that one.

I usually just turn the conversation round and say I was about to call them and then precede to try sell them what they're trying to sell me. As yet I've been unable to make a sale...

There's a great recording on the internet where they pretend to be a cop investigating the guy's death. Then accuse the caller of killing him. It's very silly.

Best one I've ever seen roll across my PC monitor:

"EAT THE MEAT! New Bacon-Flavoured condoms! Turn that veggie back!"

Used it once with my ex who was vegetarian. If the aim of the ad was to evoke verbal assault to the point of crippled sex-drive, it worked a beauty.

I hate banner ads that talk to you, especially on video sites... because you then have to refresh like 8 fucking times. I hate commercials, I hate pop ups, and I hate telemarketers. Advertising sucks.

No. I already mentioned about 99% of all advertising I see is for Viagra or Condoms. I understand Mr. Big-Abs up there getting you-know-what every day, but what about the rest of us men?

"Congratulations. You've been selected to get a free Ipod touch."
Glad the Escapist ads are quiet, short, and not annoying. But I do recall I used to right-click the ads and they would stop each time I refreshed the page making it faster to navigate. I think these ads might have made this site slower than usual. But I could be mistaken.

I hate pop ups. Especially those with sound. Thank god for Ad Block Plus.
Seconded, though I feel guilty and disable it on a lot of sites (like this one), gotta keep the good stuff free!

Also I loved that will smiths car was an audi.
Also liked it when, in Fast and Furious, Vin Diesel goes, incredibly clearly and loudly, "I'll have a Corona" and I thought, "Hey, I drink Corona, I'm awesome"
Also at the end of Evolution, they all do an endorsement thing for Head and Shoulders.
Also this one time at band camp...

Ads on tv, I don't mind.
Ads on dvds, I don't mind, except the bloody "You Wouldn't Steal A CAR! So Don't Pirate This Damn Movie!" thing, that really pisses me off. I think its because I've bought a movie legitimately, so why do I see it? Pirates wouldn't see it, would they?
Banner ads I can ignore.
Pop-ups really annoy me, thankfully I have a decent Pop-up Blocker.

So, overall, only pop-ups really get on my nerve.
