So, we finally get a little closure on this anime. I do realize that Inuyasha apparently "ended" 2 years ago, but if anyone remembers, it was a bull-shit ending. I'm quite excited by the thought of this series coming to an end, cause I think this means I have good reasoning to expect a third season of vampire knight.

(This is kinda search bar approved, cause the only mention of this was back in august and there was no real discussion. I do believe that this will be more relevant seeing as today is the release date of the season.)

I'm a bit lost. Wiki helps me: The manga was completed just last year, with a "real" ending. The anime was cut off five years ago. You appear to be talking about the localized anime, which only caught up with the "end" of the Japanese anime about two years ago.

So you're saying in fall 09 the anime is being resumed in Japan? Huh. The manga had let me move on. Still, I'll probably take a look. But at this point I can't even remember where the anime left off.

Five years later, I wonder if they'll be able to get their voice actors back.

edit: On Vampire Knight. Were there loose story threads or is there any manga source left? I thought it tied everything up. Wouldn't want them to pull anything like Suzumiya's Endless Eight, or other nonsense or crap filler cheap cash-in.

The first episode is available on Hulu. Just watched it. Has the opposite problem from DBZ: The pace is very fast, cramming a lot of material into not enough time. Pacing, delivery and presentation unquestionably suffers for that. If nostalgia does not betray me, one thing Inuyasha did well was atmosphere. Final Act doesn't have time for much atmosphere.

And I suppose non-fans need not apply. If you're not familiar with the preceding anime... well, they really don't have time for nonsense like character introductions or back story.

Apart from pacing, the execution is at least as good as the original run, probably better. And you know that -- unless something goes horribly, horribly wrong -- the story is in the "final act" (as opposed to stretching on indefinitely), and there will be no filler.

If you want closure but don't like how they're doing the anime, remember: there's always the manga. I'll hold off judgment for another episode or two.

Well, if you haven't noticed, the Vampire Knight manga is still ongoing. It takes a year jump after Yuuki discovers that she is a pureblood. And if you don't remember, Zero did vow to KILL Yuuki, so...I have a funny feeling that he is going to try to make good on his promise. And I would love to see it in anime form.

Now on the subject of Inuyasha. I was actually shocked that they managed to drag the voice actors back in. But there was an atmosphere in Inuyasha, it was kinda buried. You also have to remember that the anime left off on a crappy "we can do it together" note. So in my opnion it might take an episode or two, but it'll pick up. And the anime is only going to be 26 episodes long, so it'll be done shortly after the new year.
