What's wrong with inversion? (Talking about FPS game controls here.) I LOVE aim inversion. As a kid I once thought to myself, "I wonder what it would be like to play an FPS like I used to play a flight sim..." and switched out the controls. I've been using inversion ever since. It's natural to me now. I perform better with it on.

And admittedly, I always get a kick out of my friends failing when they play off of one of my profiles and forget to switch it back.

But it's so uncommon. I'm the only person I know who does this. So what about you guys? Any of you Escapists here like to invert your aim when you shoot?

It feels unnatural to me. I prefer my cross-hair functioning in the same way that my hand does, in perfect coordination.

But sometimes, just sometimes, I'll invert my aim when I'm feeling like an edgy devil.

The problem with Inversion is that stuff ends up upside down, of course.
Try flying with it. I decided to try out Battlefield Play4free(Yes, it sucked) and it had my aim for vehicles inverted automatically. So, I nose dived into the ocean.

Fun stuff.

I don't tend to imagine my gun being an airplane xD

And I will be seriously surprised if anyone else plays with inversion on. Inversion just feels completely unnatural for most people

I only ever used vertical inversion on TimeSplitters 2. I really don't know why. It feels unnatural when I do it on any other FPS.

I play with Look inversion because the first shooter I ever played was also a flight simulator. I never broke the habit, and it annoys the hell out of my friends whenever they try to play on my XBOX.

I always use inversion, because, as my mates say 'I'm a freak'.

I kind of have to, if I'm playing a console. My brain is hard wired that way. It's pretty annoying too when I have to pause everyone at the start of a Halo Deathmatch and set the controls to inverted...

Back when I played games on consols I had inversion on; I literally couldn't play uninverted. I was the only person I knew who did it, needless to say my friends would all get annoyed when I insisted of messing about in the options of their consols to turn my guest profile inverted when at their house. Eventually I just created my own profile at all of my friends' houses.

Now that I'm mostly a PC gamer I can't play with inversion ON; after getting used to my uninverted mouse the console controls feel very strange when I invert them. Flying, however, I go uninverted on the PC and inverted on the Consoles, just to be weird.

On a similar topic, have you tried going Southpaw (switching thumbstick controls)? I had an old game for the PS2 that was Southpaw by default with no way to switch; I was quite good at it when it came out, but going back to it after a few years of Halo and other modern FPSs I would spend more time walking into walls than shooting enemys.

They're both equal, it's just that non-inverted is now the default, so more people are used to it. I personally don't use inverted controls for the aforementioned reason.
