As someone who was a victim stuff like this, I'm a bit saddened. Saddened that women beating men is considered cartoonish and that if it was a man beating a woman, the press would be all over it like flies on shit.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

I'd totally play it, but I played Super Columbine Massacre RPG, so maybe I'm just a horrible person?

Only if you played the latter for sheer enjoyment rather than insight/understanding.
SCMRPG is actually a decent enough title (though it relies heavily on grinding and South Park Satan seems grossly out of place) that handles the subject with enough decency to remain true to the tragedy of the actual event while deviating enough to be a game. But I digress, onto the topic of...sexism, I guess?

This game on the other hand...well, it's rather disturbing to think of the possible hypocrisy. If the genders were reversed, there would be a shitstorm like no other. It would be plastered across the news day one, the developers lauded as chauvinist anti-democratic terrorists and the title pulled from the market ASAP. The fact that the game is getting negative coverage (while flying under the radar) is somewhat amazing in itself.

If man and woman were equal, the act of violence against one of them would be disgusting because it's an act of violence against a human being, not a gender. Alas, our quest for equality seems somewhat jilted. We seem to often put preference one way or the other.

It would be quite fair to say SCMRPG is probably a better game than this Perfect Boyfriend Trainer, or whatever, although I have to admit that I only played a lot of games for the "shock value" so to speak, many of which surpassed expectations immensely. That whole Celebrity fahion aesthetic this game has would be off-putting to me on even a masterpiece, though.

I wouldn't really care if this was made about a man beating a woman either, it's in poor taste either way, but I'm too anti-censorship to want it removed. I agree, it shouldn't be a gender issue, it should be about whether we want to allow violence of this or any kind at all to be acceptable.

Seems like a fetish-y game, to be honest. Femdom is a pretty huge thing these days, so it really isn't surprising that there is at least a small market for a game like this. I don't have any issues with it though, entertainment should have no creative boundaries as far as I'm concerned.

I am going to sidestep the sexism issue and condemn this purely because it depicts an abusive relationship in a positive light for no artistic reason. I am not saying it should be banned or that it shouldn't have been made, I'm merely saying I do not enjoy positive depictions of abuse.

All I need to know is when do we get a release of the game Bart was playing. The one where you shoot babies.

so abuse...aren't these games supposed to be hidden away on the internet where you have to go looking for them? It's a horrible thing, people shouldn't let this exist without some hate thrown it's way.

on a lighter note, what's the extent of the damage? Kick to balls? Stomp dem nuts? Entice with sex then don't put out? Rubber Hose? Strap On Rape? Frying Pan to the Temple? Leaving the Kitchen? Shit in his breakfast? Beat him with your used tampon? Make him marry you? =P

Embarassing and stupid, but they're free to make it, and maybe it will generate a worthy discussion.

It's okay because it's abuse against men.

Well, people keep telling me that's what I think, and surely strangers on the internet know me better than I do!

But seriously, yeah, this is a tad screwed up. On the one hand, I did snicker when I saw it. On the other....Seriously, what in the blue hell?

This reminds me of a show a few years ago. I think it was called "What Would you do?" or something like that. They had a scenario where a man was hitting his spouse in public to see how people reacted. The public almost immediately took notice and put a stop to it. Then they reversed the roles where the woman was beating the man and not only was it tolerated, one woman was actually enjoying it. It took quite a while for a random woman to stop the beating.

Well its an iOS game, so we can already count those who get it as fools for buying iPhones instead of Androids already :p
It's on Android Store as well. And there's at least one more game up there where the objective is to beat up your boyfriend, as well as one about destroying the BF's possessions in an act of revenge. So I guess it's a genre now.

Incidentally, the Android Store tells me that users who download these games also download or look at titles such as Boyfriend Maker and My Virtual Boyfriend.

Of course, far be it from me to perpetuate hateful stereotypes.
