iPad vs. Galaxy Tab?

So, long story short, my dad's laptop got destroyed in a work accident (the ceiling fell down...standard xD) and we have some money to spend on a replacement because of the insurance.

Now, we have a million laptops, so we're looking to get either the iPad or the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

I've done a bit of research and I'm leaning towards the iPad but...I just want your opinions on which one we should spend our not-so-hard earned cash on.

Lemme know which we should get, and why:]. Thanks!

My dad has an i pad and it's pretty cool. You can't do everything you can do on a laptop but it is still fun. Never heard of the galaxy before.

The Galaxy is smaller and less capable hardware-wise, but it is far more compatible on the software side.

iPad is big-n'-fast, but still has a few issues to work out.

So, depends on what you're primarily using it for.

I would say iPad, since it's got a nice, big screen (the entire point of a tablet computer vs. a touch phone ), and it feels gooooood.

HOWEVER!

I'd wait at this point - the iPad is well beyond 3 quarters of it's way through its life cycle, and speculators are saying left, right and centre that the iPad 2 is only just across the horizon.

So, yeah, iPad 2 gets my vote. Just wait it out with an older laptop for the time being if possible!

Everyone now days wants to be Apple. Just because Apple made a touch device to compete with notebooks now means that every freaking company wants to do the same thing. Same thing happened with Apples Iphone, every phone company then tried to replicate it's success.
