iPads and junk

Hey all. Recently got an iPad 3 through work and am trying to load some comics / graphic novels / CBRs onto it. I tried converting the CBRs into EPUBs and then synced it with the iBooks library but that was crap.

I then downloaded a free App called ComicPad and it works well.

ANYWAY! Long story short. I can't delete these stupid epubs off the iPad and I need your help! I've tried the following:

- Unchecked 'Sync Books' and clicked Sync / Apply. Didn't do shit. At the bottom of iTunes I could still see a giant amount of space being used for books. And the books still appear in iBooks.

- Went into iBooks, clicked 'edit, clicked 'select all', clicked 'delete'. Sure they all were removed from iBooks but when I went to go resync with my iTunes instead of 6.7GB of 'Books' it's now 6.7GB of 'Other', thus still taking up space on the damn thing!

Apple's asshole attempt to control piracy with their evil file transferring that is simply retarded is ruining this iPad.

I um.. hmm.

I don't have an iPad, but I'd say that if you deleted them off your computer and then synced, it should probably delete them from your iPad. (At least that's how I get stubborn music off my iPhone.) Just back them up onto flash drives or an external hard drive or something before you do in case you need them again.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. That's probably something else I should have mentioned.

The first thing I tried was deleting the books off my computer (by which I mean I deleted the ePub versions) that were imported into iTunes. They were broken anyway so I erased them. The original CBRs can't be added to iBooks.

According to this:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3410651?start=0&tstart=0

I have to 'restore'.

And to do that I have to transfer my apps to my computer to back them up. Oh and did I mention if I do a restore and haven't backed up my Apps they are lost and I have to pay for them again?
WTF is this? The stone age? Steam does it right. Apple doesn't. I HATE this. I just punched my desk.

Now I'm trying to follow a guide on how to back up my iPad apps and it's not working...

How do I back up Apps without backing up the whole damn iPad memory including the corrupt memory?

EDIT: Oh more issues! I couldn't backup my apps because I had to 'authorize' my computer first. Nanny-Apple hand holding me! I'm jail breaking the first chance I get. They deserve it for forcing me into their illogical system.

I would've recommended ComicZeal. All the comic-readations plus deletability you could want. You still have to transfer in with iTunes though...

Yes, those are perfectly cromulent words...

Yeah, when you sync it should tie all "paid"/"free" apps to your computer and/or account, but you have to authorise your computer so that then THAT is tied with your PC, supposedly so you can't go adding all your apps to other people's library's -_-

However, when you restore, as long as the apps are tied to your account you can still re-sync them, but any progress/saves that are present are erased.

So yeah, maybe backing everything up/syncing...then restoring the iPad. Then make sure what you were trying to get off isn't anywhere at all on your comp and then re-sync.

Apple products are a pain ):

I am not impressed with the DRM Apple uses. Once you've bought something through iTunes it's only available on the one, maybe two devices, and if your computer crashes without the files backed up they have to be purchased again. Bull. Crap.

Got it through work heavily discounted. Don't get me wrong, playing with the device itself is heaps fun. But the file transfer system via the PC (iTunes) and all of it's anti-piracy measures stand in the way of logical design.

I too have discovered this. Such bullshit.
