My parents recently got a new computer. My parents say they are going to transfer the files from the old computer to the new one. I have yet to download itunes on the new comp. I would, except I cant transfer my songs because my parents aparently don't trust technology and would't give me a credit card number to make an acount with. So I was wondering if there is any way to transfer the songs on my iPod to iTunes. I'm looking for something that is either download free, or somthing you know for sure is a virus free download.

Details:
My ipod is a fifth Gen nano
My comp is running XP
Compaq

Alternitivly, if I wait for the files to transfer, and I tranfer itunes, will the songs come with it?

Thanks in advance for any info you could give.

I'm really, really confused about what you're asking, so, one step at a time xD.

So, new computer, and you don't wanna lose your tunes?
You can just back up all your songs onto an external hard drive and transfer them over, right?

As far as I know, there is no way to get songs off an iPod.

Hope I've helped? :].

You cant get songs off an iPod. If your parents have an account already for iTunes (i'm assuming they do as they have it on their PC), you can just download iTunes for your new computer and log in.

You are able to copy across music files using an external HDD or other form of media.

But again, as the above poster stated, what you are asking is quite confusing and makes little sense.

Did you buy your music on iTunes or elsewhere?

You should simply be able to install iTunes on your computer, sign into your account (Which does not require a credit card) and tell the program to sync your computer's library to your device.

If they are un-Apple encrypted MP3 files and syncing failed, then you could simply google around for a program that will allow you to remove the files. There's also the possibility of turning your iPod onto external disc mode, essentially making the computer read it as a thumb drive or some such. Some iPod music is able to be accessed this way.

I'm confused, do you just need the stuff you've bought from the store or to transfer your entire library or get just the music from your ipod or...?
