A few days ago, I accidentally sent my iPod Nano 7th gen through the wash. Naturally, it wasn't working when it came out. I did the classic rice in a bag trick though, and save for a small internal crack on the screen, the Nano is working 100%! But, there's something that bothers me...

I've heard about water corrosion, and looking at the headphone jack, there is some slight dis-coloration in there. I've tested the thing, and everything is working as it once did. I just worry that the iPod might be prone to dying out on me sooner than normal due to the potential water damage. It doesn't help I originally wanted to sell the thing to get an older iPod 5th gen (Just iPod, not of any branching type. 30GB for less than $100? YES~). If water damage is gonna be a huge issue, does that mean this thing might not be worth selling? I assume it'd be the right thing to make the wash cycle issue known when or if I do sell it, as well.

Your thoughts?

Edit: For those curious, the iPod's body is in 95% excellent condition (VERY minor marks, kept it in a case from day 1) and the small crack in the screen is at the bottom right corner barely in view and not even half an inch in length. The crack doesn't show up on the music player screen either, just when put on a white-ish background. If this is still ok to sell, please add that to your response!

Some devices just tend to be more water resistant for no apparent reason.

Your earphones got stuck in the washing machine? They're dead Jim.

Your expensive but fragile piece of electrical equipment got stuck in the washing machine? Not a problem.

I'm not sure about trying to sell it though. I sure wouldn't want to buy something that has been through the washing machine. You never really know if it is going to poop out.

"Still works after being washed several times"???
haha... now I know Ipad is improved to be water-proof. I have my ipod fallen down for many times and still work, I've never washed it, should give it a try [http://ilmainen-nettiruletti.com] someday, lol

Another thing to point out is that the water damage will show up on a diagnostics test if you take it to a store that deals in used electronics, which will again make it hard to sell.

Sooo, simply put, my guesses and understanding about water corrosion are correct? Shit >.>

Lucky bastard. I've had two iPods go through the washer. Both were totally junked.

Personally I wouldn't buy or sell any electronic device that had been through the wash.
