Sweden is propably getting a new anti-piracy law, the IPRED1-law. IPRED1 is now being lobbyed through, and protested against by private citizens. This law gives the copyright-mafia the permission to collect evidence against users, use the courts as a rubber stamp and get the ISPs to release personal information about their users. The user itself will never have a chance to protect their privacy, or even know if their privacy is under a threat. This law is a stricter version of the Finnish Lex-Karpela, extremely horrendous anti-piracy law (Finnish people can no longer even legally copy their store bought CDs into MP3s to use in their MP3-players). The lobbyists are also claiming statistics considering Lex-Karpela, even though it there has been no change in the amount of file sharing in Finland.
This EU-directive started out with good intentions to root out illegal brand copying (product copies with the idea of selling with a high price because of a forged logo). After Janelly Fourtou, the wife of a RIAA-partner Videndi's chairman Jean-Rene Fourtou got through with it, the directive was changed to even allow copyright industry funded private police forces actions against file sharing private citizens.
What hope there is for privace anymore?
