I actually know a shitload, I've been to Ireland. I was pissed when I had to leave it's a great place.

OT: No drinking age!!!
We do, it's 18.
That been changed recently, because when I visited at 13 years old I was allowed to buy a bottle of scotch to bring home for my family
No as far as I know it's always been like that, if you were out in the country area about 5 years ago you could probably get away with it though.

We're probably the only country in the world where they have to make an announcement on the news telling Christians with burnt eyeballs not to stare at the sun trying to see miracles.

Not a joke... this actually happened a few months back.

hmmm, I'm afraid I don't know a whole lot. I think at one point the Romans may have called the island Hibernia. In 1169, the English invaded..........starting a fairly continuous war/unrest/rivalry/partnership. And, um, became an independent republic in 1923, I think. During the 17th and 18th century Irish Catholic ex patriots fought for various Catholic European armies against Protestant British interests. Was neutral in WWII. That's about it.
Nitting pick a bit, but, the English did not invade Ireland in 1169. It was the Anglo-Normans that invaded and it was 1167.

Also, while I Ireland was "officially" neutral in WW2, dont forget that c.200,000 men form the Republic fought in WW2.

Erm.... lets see....something that has not been said already.... hmmm... Ah! Yes!

The Irish saved the civilization of Europe, and thus the world!

It was four, so that's probably why. Pretty kickass country you have there, if I do say so myself
