They're all going to grow up and join politics eventually.

And when that day comes, our government sessions shall take place with a manditory dress code; all must have a V mask.

I wasn't talking specifically about /b/ aswell. I mean, look at what twitter/facebook is doing in Egypt. I know they aren't anonymous, but the fact is that the internet is allowing people to unite like never before, and they have proven they can do quite alot in terms of well

hacking governments

All I thought was, dont give them ideas.

While I laugh to no end to learn of Anon's latest big hit, if a group that good wanted to I think they could fry every server in the pentagon and get away with it.

No, they're just a bunch of computer geeks who may have influence within their own little sphere but outside of that are practically impotent, unless they use their hacking skills for crime in which case as we've seen recently often ends up with the 4-chaners in legal hot water.
Anonymous isn't an exclusive club, its an emergent group. The OP says that they have a balanced moral compass, but that's only true in aggregate, the kid who wanted to shoot the school was just as much an anon as anyone else. The beauty of anonymous is that unlike real life politics people are forced to make their own opinions instead of following some cult of personality.
Look at the healthcare debate, when the GOP were for single-payer their voters loved it, but now the party is against it, its nazi socialist plot to kill america. In an anonymous forum you just see a post and have to read more then the name to figure out if you agree or disagree.

Look into the concept of Demarchy, where all aspects of government are voted on, rather then being forced to vote for one of 2 parties, neither of which can possibly represent your ideal positions, and neither of which is ever the average of the country on all issues.

They won't. I imagine the day is coming when 4chan is shut down. Then after that the other chans will follow suit. Then eBaumsworld. By then a new group will arise from the ashes of Anon, but Anon will be gone.

Internet freedom won't last forever. Enjoy it now because these are "the good old days".

Not a chance.

While I admit they're a clever bunch, they FBI is gunning for them now. There's no chance that the FBI WON'T eventually find them, especially if they keep being stupid and keep up the high-profile acts of cyber-terrorism like they have been recently.

Plus, them ruling the world is a REALLY bad idea.

No. If we go to world war an EMP's or something knock out electricity, or even if internet is gone, they are nothing more than losers in their mom's basement.

Anon could be anyone, it's not a group of any sort either so people thinking "they" can be brought down are pretty far off from reality. They are apparently more like an idea, and fortunately people have a lot of ideas...

Nope. They'd get bored of it and blow up the world for the lulz after being declared rulers. That and its primary strength is the internet, a service that the government could shut down if it wanted to.

Well, yes and no in my opinion. No in the sense that anonymous as the group will not, but anonymous as a hive mind? Quite possibly. With the expansion of networking technology its quite possible that eventually humanity will develop a hive mind.

One nation alone cant rule the world so the words "anonymous" and "rule the world" doesn't make a lot of sense. People with decades of experience in politics never make their way into any sense of a ruling authority so I doubt some child in a basement can make an impact.

It would have to begin with a lot of them growing up, doing things the legal way (although some in politics don't and would argue it's the only way to get things done) and give the "we are legion" mob mentality a break and even then people might stop sniggering

Just get off the grid and Anonymous loses all its power instantly. It's like Clu in Tron
