Is anyone else pissed about Brink?

Brink was one of the games I was looking forward to and I have finally got my hands on it. After a couple days of playing, it has to be one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. I want to like so much, but every time I play the imbalanced level objectives and absolutely retarded AI hits me in the face every time I start to have fun. There is so much wasted potential here that could have been brought out with more polishing and play-testing. It makes me so mad that I want to punch the head of Splash Damage in the face... repeatedly.

[/rant]

So does anyone else share my opinion or do you guys think I'm that weird guy who screams non-sense at street corners?

edit:
I realized after I posted that I put this thread in off-topic instead of gaming discussion. I should pay attention more :p

I don't know what you're talking about when you say imbalanced level objectives... the only objectives that are imbalanced are Operative objectives... otherwise, its seems rather well made. Stupid AI in an FPS, really? are we still complaining about this?

The game is not the best FPS ever by any stretch, but the reasons you listed are not what limits it.

I've heard not-so-great things about it.
I've trained myself not to get overexcited about games, though, so I never expected anything amazing from the game, though I hoped Bethesda/ Splash Damage had done a good job.

I haven't played it, though, so I don't really know what I'm talking about.

AI? I don't have the game but I thought it was multiplayer based, you shouldn't be playing alone :s

Those points do frustrate me but they don't frustrate me to the point of not being able to like it. Yes it does get annoying because the game is basically modeled around teamwork and if you go solo your going to get your shit ruined and the AI on your team want to all go and do their own thing and leave you to deal with the 8 people who just turned the corner, but this new and different challenge is what keeps me hooked to the game.

Needs a map builder. Not enough places for me to snipe without getting a gattling gun up my nose. Unless I'm not looking hard enough.

Otherwise I'm enjoying it.

Do you use light body class? I mean, the game is not built for snipers, but I use light body class, and I've run across a few sniper nests on a couple maps, they're well hidden, but isn't that the point?

Overall, I'm having a lot of fun and I like it. The AI is meh, but the problem is not the AI, it's that too many matches don't wait for human players. Some games have plenty of players, others it'll just be me and maybe one other person. There's also no option to talk to strangers, which tends to make remove strategy of any kind and turns certain objectives into zerg-fests when a coordinated attack would be much more effective. In a death-match style game, this would not be a problem, but the objective-based matches mean it would be helpful to at least have that option.

Aside from that, it's pretty fun and allows for some really cool moments if you play it right.

That was intentional by the studio so good luck.

I love the game but I can easily see why some people are upset. This could have been easily avoided if the game had a week open beta of container city which they showed very early on.
I hope it sells well so we can get out of the army shooter trend that is suffocating the genre.

The AI is often thick as cement, which can get very annoying, but usually it works out ok. One of the easiest to find sniper spots is on the security tower level. When they start going through that little pathway, if you're on the security side it can be good sniping.

I think if you are playing Brink on Singleplayer, you're doing it wrong.

Cant offer an opinion other than that, but yeah, I was under the impression the only way to get a decent experience out of the game was to play multiplayer.

I haven't played it but my flatmate has. He thought the game, especially the SMART system, had a lot of potential. However he also felt that the AI was too useless to be of assistance and he couldn't even figure out how to get into a game with other real players.

I like it, I really do. The AI's not so bad if you support them a little. The Gameplay's fine, in my opinion. The only thing is that they still haven't worked out the Online. Laggy as hell.

I have tried the light body class, yeah, but I don't seem to last long.

Maybe I just need to figure a different tactic. So long as they're there, I know my search isn't in vain. Still, I'd love to see a map builder and some people coming up with nice combat situations. Nothing sniper heavy, I'd just like to see some more variety. Different objectives and such, maybe incorporate a whitelist and blacklist for maps in case of abuse for experience.

Eh? So there aren't sniper nests? The wolf lied to me?!

That is why you wait until a week after release to see if the game is good or not.

Disclaimer, I know it's not an in house bethesda developed game but bare with me.

Bethesda isn't well known for releasing decent games outside of their home franchise, The Elder Scrolls (and the Elder Scrolls: Fallout Edition). WET , precursor to brink, was not a great game.

I saw a lot of people getting their hopes up for this, I'm just surprised people can ignore bethesdas track record with new titles.
