Was one for thievery but found the thieves guild much less compelling then the one in Obilivion so now I'm a Bretton throwing magic around every second of every day.

First orc barbarian, now a Nord swordswoman. I was going to play a khaj, but just couldn't make a character I liked. Too furry, too... odd looking. That is also why I keep away from elves. And next, an imperial with the most awesome beard and jaw I can assemble on one face.

'Cause honestly, I'm starting to feel like the only one!!

Yeah, maybe they don't have some kick-ass crazy fire abilities like Dark elves do, and they made be a little out-of-the-ordinary for people who usually just play Nord, but c'mon!! They're really awesome to make an Assassin or a Thief with! Is there honestly anyone else?? I'd really like to hear a little love towards the Khajiit right now lol!

So Escapist members, tell me; is there any one out there playing as a Khajiit? What stats are you building up? Also, if you're not, what's your reason for not wanting to? Do you find other races cooler, or do you just really hate cats?? I'm curious, let me know! :)

Personally, I made a female Khajiit named Yhünna Khi'ul, and building her towards a kind of Assassin archetype, what's everyone else making??

Thanks! :)
I just made a female cat thief/assassin last night.

Not a fan of the "pain noises" she makes, but otherwise, I like the character. The night vision thing should IMO be an always-on ability though. Stupid that you have to trigger it, it only lasts a minute, and it can only be used once a day (especially when 12 hours of the day it serves no purpose).

Even more-so when you consider how bad the unarmed ability is.

So they have TWO bad racial's...kinda dumb.
If you hot key/favorate it you can just turn it on again as soon as it expires.
It's what I do.

OP: Khajiit and proud.
I'm trying just to earn enough to get somewhere to dump my stuff and focus on getting better at sneaking and assassinating.
How useful is the dagger?
A: I'm on console, so not hotkeys :(

B: Its a once per day ability...you can't do that...right...??
I'm on the Xbox. Press up on the d-pad and it'll come up with favorate spells. If night vision isn't in there already just fiddle about in menus to make it a favorate.
Honestly, I just hit the Right Bumper and it works, every time.

Once I get Skyrim for christmas, I'll be playing one. ^_^

EDIT: Not OT but still related to Skyrim... Is there any way to become a good fist-fighter in Skyrim now that they've removed the unarmed skill that was in previous Elder Scrolls games?
Actually ya, Heavy Armor has a skill that adds your armor rating to unarmed combat if your wearing Heavy armor, its on the way to a crucial skill so you have to pick it up if your gonna be a tank

My next character is going to be a Khajiit werewolf. Also, I think they have the best sounding dragon shouts.

Just as in Oblivion, I'm starting off as a Breton Mage, with some wonderful results, I might add. Although I do have a second character who's a Khajiit, stealthy bow killer assassin.

Awesome, you're totally right.

I could have sworn I read in the game that it was once per day. Thanks.

What *I* want to know is how many people are playing a Khajiit named Dovahkitty.
LOL

OT: Made a khajiit, didn't like the little jowls on the side of the face and made a dark elf assassin character. You guys talking about how awesome the claws are is making me think im gonna be a khajiit for my second play though.

Yeah, unarmed is insane in Skyrim if you play it right. Going as a Khajiit you can out damage any one handed weapon in the game right from the first town pretty much...without grinding skills or anything like that.

Unarmed with fist of steel perk and 30 in heavy armor (which you can get on the way to riverwood) is freaking crazy. Add in the 14 bonus damage Khajiit get for their claws and you 1 to 2 shot everything pretty much.

The big reason why is smithing boosts armor twice as much as weapons....and heavy gauntlets have a much higher base then heavy one (or two) handed weapons of equivalent quality.

Basically in Riverwood if you grab the steel right by the blacksmith, and enter his house..you can grab 2 potions of fortify smithing. Create a nice pair of steel gauntlets with the steel you snagged and then drink the potion of fortify smithing (+30 to smithing) and use the grindstone on them (for a +10 bonus). That gives you the equivalent of a 22 base weapon just from the gauntlets with no bonuses applied at all (and you'll have bonuses since you get a 45% increase in armor rating just getting to 30 heavy armor). Basically means you end up with a weapon with 38 base damage (gauntlets after bonuses) and 14 bonus damage from claws.

A steel sword meanwhile has a base damage of 8....and if you use the fortify smith potion and grind it.....13.

So yeah...Khajiit are pretty freaking sick...especially early game. Late game one handed or two handed weapons are quite good as well...and it's pretty much which type you want to use to destroy stuff with....all 3 do it just fine.

It should be mentioned though that unarmed is not a weapon skill...so you don't level by using it...meaning you'll be a lower level if you use that instead of one or two handed weapons.

Also.....you don't need to use it AT ALL...to improve it. It gets improved mainly by smithing. Heavy armor also boosts it..but that will go up naturally....and/or you can purchasing skill increases (including from a companion that allows you to do so 5 times a level for FREE....or at least he gives the money back to you hehe)

At higher levels you can pound enemies for over 200 damage a swing with 1 hand (the other hand can be healing you at the same time your attacking, or you can have a shield in that hand etc).

Since you don't need to actually use the skill to improve it...you can instead use a different skill like say....archery (with stealth)....and then just use unarmed as backup if enemies get close.....or instead go with devestation spells...etc.

So yeah, it's actually quite a useful class to play as....ESPECIALLY if you want to focus in something besides melee combat....but still want it as backup in a pinch. It is also by far and away the easiest race to play without leveling up or restricting yourself to level 15 (for a few quests etc you need to be over lvl 14).

Raj is Khajiit. Enjoying much time in Skyrim. Many loose pockets!
And people blind as Falmer! Kleptomania has never served Khajiit better!

Well, I have a Redguard mage, an Orc thief and a Khajiit Warrior. I like to play off type, don't want a bonus to the skills I'll actually be using. Man, I played Morrowind and Oblivion waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.

Yeah, it's funny but in some ways the Khajiit makes the best spellcaster. I always said it was either HE or Brenton....but honestly the Khajiit's natural ability to claw the heck out of anyone without any invested skill in melee combat AND the ability to use said claw attacks while casting spells with the other hand (claw) is pretty hard to beat.

If your claw attacks didn't do so much damage everything dies so fast....you could literally just sit there using your novice healing spell in the left hand while clawing with your right pretty much forever.

Since you can switch armor INSTANTLY...you can also go with mage robes/hoods etc that you get from the college quests until you can enchant heavy armor later on for serious spellcasting. Once you run out of magicka or an enemy gets in your face (or is just too resistant to magic) you can switch to your heavy armor and go unarmed on it.

Really covers the weakness of destruction magic better then any of the bonuses other characters get.

I like to use the Atronach stone...that gives 50% magic absorb, 50 bonus magick and reduces magic regen by 50%. The regen is easily offset by my mage equipment (when wearing it I have +200% regen) so is not a penalty at all. The bonus max magicka is nice and 50% absorb means half of the spells that come my way do no damage to me (and I have resist that reduces the damage of spells that do damage anyway). Basically my Khajiit has insanely high armor (with no pently to movement speed/stamina at all), very high unarmed combat damage (with almost no investment involved other then a bit into smithing (Which I wanted anyway), great spell damage and selection in destruction and quite good healing as well. Havn't bothered with a very high smithing (just use fortify potions) or enchanting yet. Once I get enchanting up though I can move my magic bonuses over from my mage armor to heavy armor and not even need to ever switch.

As it is right now I fight mostly with magic though......but when I run out of magic...or hit a especially hard mage (especially random ones that challenge me out of nowhere etc)....The claws come out!!

I kinda thought that Kajiit were the Asians of the elder scrolls universe. I play mine a Heavy armor Hand to Hand combatant, Claws plus Heavy armor gauntlet perk works really well.
