I'm sorry guys but you're all wrong. You're not wrong to have your favorites but out of all of them, Rachnera is the best of the waifu.

I mean yeah, it's her whole schtick in one neat pic but she spreads the love. I guess, arguably, Suu would be better since she can't fall into Rachnera's web (hur-hur) but she seems genuinely interested at least.

Correct. Undeniably correct. Tio close second.

Why? Would it cause a CAT-tastrophe?

"A lot of thought went into her design"

Sooooooo the amount of thought was "Lets make an ordinary girl with a weird looking face and she's got a long tongue that isn't plainly visible." Hmmmm...seems pretty simple if you ask me. :p

I vote for the guy who nominated Kerrigan. She - as well as a few other posts in this topic - is a Monster Girl by pretty much every possible definition.

How is she a monster girl? She look more like a mutant (haven't read the manga) since I just see her as Toad from X-men but gotten the anime makeover and sex change!
How isn't she a monster girl she actually looks like a toad and human hybrid
So would you called Toad a monster man then?

I view "monster girl" to having more monster traits or the monster is monstly humanoid shape (like the girls from Monster Musume are litteral half girl half monster) than being human with monster like body parts (in her case, having a bigger hands and a very long tongue like a frog).

Now this is a frog monster girl! (NSFW)
http://monstergirlencyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Mucus_Toad
http://monstergirlquest.wikia.com/wiki/Frog_Girls

If she did have frog skin than the plain odle human skin and the hindlegs of the frog (yes I know she can still jump like a frog) and feet then I would view her as a monster girl.

TBF, pulling off something like that probably takes a bit more effort than just taking a girl and sticking animal parts to her.

Sorry, but you've got a rather limited opinion of monster girls. It isn't about whether they 'look like hybrids' or 'girl with monster bits'. IMO, she really doesn't go beyond 'regular girl' in deign, leaving me wondering what monster exactly she is.

But, pretty much everyone else here threw out an entire variety of monster girls where you can just glance, and say "Yep, that's X monster", which is really what monster girls are supposed to do.

Boy, OP.
I don't know if you expected this, but I believe it is time to set this thread on fire.

Actually, hold that thought, the thread is already on fire.

Overall though, I like your opinion, Asui does look like a neat character, so I'll agree with your opinion... but then again...

I automatically win the dragon-waifu!
[HEADING=1]HOLD IT![/HEADING]

While I haven't watched Monster Musume, and hate the harem genre to a massive, nuclear explosion extent... what I will say, is that Dragon girls, are indeed, the best monster girl.

Or at least in the A++ tier, it depends on the character, but based on that design, it is definitely in my best tier... plus a billion points if their bust is small and I like their personality.

Well, now I'm conflicted. On one hand, somebody agreed with me, and on the other, it means I'm no longer the only one in the running for dragon-waifus.

Not really. She has slightly deformed hands/feet (this is questionable, since it seems it's only part of the costume), a long tongue and creepy looking large eyes*. I'm not really seeing how this is any more creative than sticking cat ears and a tail on a generic anime girl and calling it a day (other than cat-human being more common), let alone "best designed" of anything.

*When I say creepy looking eyes, I don't mean in a good way, I mean in a way that I find irritating to look at for reasons I can't quite explain. I know large eyes aren't exactly rare as far as anime is concerned, but there's just something about her face that annoys me.

Well shes better than most anime monster girls at least she looks like a hybrid.
In what way? Kerrigan looks like a hybrid between Zerg and a Terran Female. Asui looks like every other generic school girl from every other anime, it just so happens she has a long tongue when she opens her mouth. How is that any different than any other "monster girl" that looks exactly the same as every other anime school girl except for having a pair of cat ears on their head?

Edit: And just to be clear: I'm not trying to rip into you or your tastes. If you like this character then that's fantastic. All I'm saying is that - based on the pic that you posted in your OP - there's nothing that stands out as "great design for a monster girl" to me. End Edit

TBF, pulling off something like that probably takes a bit more effort than just taking a girl and sticking animal parts to her.
Full disclosure: I can't draw, so if you asked me to draw an anime schoolgirl it likely would take a great deal of effort for me and I'd still fail laughably. However for anime artists, I can't imagine "draw me a schoolgirl with a long tongue" is an imposing challenge.

I didn't really have technical aspect in mind. I was thinking about giving a character a froggish appearance without going the obvious path, e.g. covering her in green warts or adding webbing to her hands. I don't really sit in Monster Girl stuff, maybe there are better examples of that kind of approach. But this character gives me that, i assume intended amphibian vibe, so i mark it as a success, and by doing something differently than usual.

Not quite as unusual as you might think, as there's plenty examples of animal/monster girls that look perfectly normal until they pull off their hat to reveal cat ears or something. :p

Does Orendi count?

She looks partial human, buuuuuuuut she's not.

Nevermind the fact that I have her as my user icon.

Didn't even get that the OP's girl was a monster girl at first til the second post showed her looking more frog-like and it clicked. The design does get those traits over well but never thought her a monster before that. While other monster girls have parts stuck to them in general, given that is pretty much the point of the myths that inspired them, that makes sense and shouldn't be seen as a negative.

As for best waifu, still not sure. Need to see more to make decision.

i think it is unfair to say the op character asui is not a monster girl.

she is a frog girl, she has a large tongue/eyes and large hands/feet for her size. Some depictions ive seen have her with a little bit smaller torso with longer/thicker legs.

Simply stating a monster girl needs to have a animal part inexplicably glued to them is unfair, while all the monster musume girls... well other than Arachne really as she has 6 eyes, are just sexy big tit broads with a different lower half. The cyclops girl and papi being the exception to the big tits part, they are all dames/broads/hotties with a part glued on.

Asui breaks that mold, while still being a frog-girl

Well, I dunno about the OP's choice, but for me, at least...

...You seem to have spent pretty much no time looking outside the harem part of the cast. Sure, the most prominent characters are like that, but not all of them. Just take a look at Dracosa again.

While I myself love me a good waifu war...

...I can see what the OP is getting at, and why some of the suggestions here might be missing the point. Yeah, Asui's design is incredibly simplistic, but I think that's the main reason it jumped out at me so much when I first saw her. Her head is modeled after that of a cartoon frog like you'd find in any anime, or perhaps even certain Warner Bros cartoons, she has big dumb hands and feet and she doesn't emote very much. Rather than tacking animal parts on someone, or being specifically designed to titillate, she literally just looks like a frog got bored and decided to spontaneously evolve into a human. Hell, her whole family is like that:

I think it's kinda cool. Y'know, in a less-is-more kinda way. The viewer isn't smacked in the face with their froginess. You can immediately tell they're frogs granted you know how the Japanese draw cartoony frogs. It's also why I like the Inkling designs from Splatoon as well, since we're on the subject. Is it the best? <link=http://orig03.deviantart.net/6f8b/f/2015/272/3/1/muffet_from_undertale_by_lethalauroramage-d9bdt5m.png>Hell no... but I consider it pretty up there.

Curses, the age-old mistake! Mixing up not knowing and not caring.

On the one hand, I'm pretty sure the designers of Senran Kagura are perfectly aware that the female water balloons of life do not, in fact, move like actual water balloons. Especially not when you so much as turn slightly, and especially, especially not when wearing a <link=https://otakurepublic.com/media/binary/000/559/708/5004329.jpg>multilayered, button-clad uniform that is almost certainly made out of a sturdy, rigid, snugly fitting material.

Ooonn the other hand... I'm pretty sure if you were to inform them of such, their response would most likey be a unanimous "so...?"

I seen a lot of anime and my main problem with monster girls is that most of the time they are regular cute girls with animal or insect part of their body. But with Asui Tsuyu I feel as if thought was put into her design.

What do you think
With a quick read of the Baku No Hero Academia Wiki I will say she is not a monster girl; She is a mutant similar to any character in the X-men. She is a unique singular being whilst monster girls are part of a species (centaur, Lamia, Arachne, Drider etc.)

In all honesty she is more the female anime equivalent to Marvel's Toad.
